Super Tigre
Dear all
i got an engine from a friend.
but I can’t find any details by looking for
- X21
- G21
- blue head
- car
Does anyone know which engine I have in front of me?
It’s hard to understand the history of the ST’s.
What is the difference between the X series and the regular G series?

X21, yes. Supertigre liked to anodize a lot of their engine heads blue. Referencing the "X" series is the most critical reference point. I had an X-25 on a pipe and it turned about 18k on a 9x4 on a hot sport plane. When I raced Formula One about 30 years ago, my X-40 turned an 8x8 at 36k on the ground. Loud as hell, but wicked fast. Too bad you don't live in Kansas City....there are a lot of mods that can really make that engine sing. They still use some de-stroked x40's in an old control-line event called Rat Race. 180mph on 60 foot lines with 3 or 4 guys in the circle at the same time. Lots of fun.

Mautro,
I recently bought an old B-17 model with four ST X .25 engines (very similar to yours). I'm trying to bring each engine back to life. I don't think they have been run for decades. Neither had the high speed needle valves. After much research, I found out that Enya parts are available that are perfect substitutes. I order the part shown from Bob Brooks at (954) 234-0863, Enya part # 071520. He also sells on EBay. They work great. Ran one of the engines on a single engine plane last weekend. I was not prepared for how fast the plane flew. These engines have power!

It’s so funny bringing back to life this small engineered machines back. I will also check the the mentioned Enya part No# on the bay :-)

Not a member here, in fact I just found this group. I have an old ST X .25 I rescued from a dumpster many years ago. Poor thing had never been properly taken care of and hadn't run in years. I disassembled it by driving the piston out of the cylinder liner with a socket and hammer. Everybody told me there was no hope for it, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to try. Free engine, you know! Any how, it took a lot of time on the break-in bench to learn its quirks, but I turned it into one of the most reliable and easy starting engine I've ever had. Alas, 16 years and several hundred flights later its age is showing. Compression is almost non-existent. Its hard to start. The needle valve setting seem to wander, requiring a richer and richer setting as it warms up. And the real kicker... It wont rev up above half throttle once it's warm and starts spraying fuel OUT of the carb intake. Seems like a sure sign of excessive piston blow-by to me.
So to cut to the chase, is there anywhere to get a new piston and liner for this thing? I constantly keep an eye on FleaBay, where I have gotten bearings and gaskets, but haven't found a piston yet. Any after market parts available?
Thanks!

The X means that it is schnuerle ported. Straight G series motors were all loop ported. Looks like it was used on a car or truck from the intake and exhaust set up. It uses the same needle valve as any of the small ST motors, looks like a bent wire, should be easy to find.
