Default Midwest Fun Scale Messerschmitt Bf 109

I'm getting ready to start construction on the Midwest Messerschmitt Bf 109 - Fun Scale kit, and I just realized that my kit is missing the building instruction manual. I contacted Midwest and they said they no longer have any of the manuals. I was told I would have to attempt to find someone online that had a copy. Therefore I am writing this thread to ask if anyone out there has this manual and would be willing to scan it to PDF and post it or email it to me? I would greatly appreciate any help I can get.

OH goodness, Have one but in the middle of moving, Will have to hunt to see if I still have it, Also if you can find ANY of the fun scale planes the build is the same other than the cosmetics, Brother had the mustang, Friend had the Sukhoi and I had the 109 and all had identical wings and build construction. I will see if I still have the book but not holding my breath, May try and get a few pics of it too.

Thanks for the info. I'll see if I can find any of the instruction manuals. I'm not new to modelling, and could probably build without the instructions, but I always like to read the instructions and be sure not to forget something. These things aren't usually that difficult to track down, but I'm finding this one to be quite the opposite.

Have not located the box yet but still have more stuff to move LOL I KNOW I kept the plans and the book but can't say the wife unit didn't see it as trash.

It's been 20 years since I built mine. The main thing that I recall as being any different was it was the first airplane that I built that used a piece of trailing edge stock glued in between the wing halves to set the dihedral angle. It worked well but you wouldn't want to forget the fiberglass on the center section. If I were doing one now I would tie the wing spars together with a strip of carbon fiber tape. As I remember it the wing was a little thicker than scale, probably more like a pattern plane. This assumes that we are talking about the same Midwest Messerschmitt. I went to HPA and looked at the fun scale Zero and it didn't show the dihedral joint as I remember it. So, take this with a grain of salt.

That's exactly the kind of information that makes having the manual valuable. Pretty soon I'll just jump in with both feet and see what happens. I just want this thing as a simple Sunday flyer that I don't have to be all that worried about. I attempted to attach a photo of the box, but wasn't allowed, as I don't have enough posts to qualify for that option. Every now and then I see the kit come up on an online action, but have never been able to convince the seller to scan the instructions for me. I'll gladly take any information offered to assist in getting things constructed correctly.

I got everything downloaded. I combined all of the files into a single 33 page PDF file. The PDF file is only 6 MB. I guess I don't have enough posts to allow me to upload it here. I will email it to you. If you want to replace all of the individual JPG files with the PDF file you can. Thanks again. I've been looking for this for a long time.

Is it just me or do you all think it's possible to build one of these just from the plans and instruction book? The only things I think you would need are a canopy, decals(which can be obtained from other sources) and maybe a set of wheels

I've wondered about this myself. Neither the plans nor the instructions show all of the ribs to scale but there is probably enough information between the two to be able to loft up a set of wing ribs. It is certainly possible to build up a canopy our of balsa and paint it to simulate a clear canopy. It is a fairly simple shape and so one could even build a form to try out forming your own canopy.

I really enjoyed the Messerschmitt I had those many years ago. It was worth re-reading the manual just for the nostalgia.

Are the Midwest plans available anywhere? I have seen the Midwest Zero but not the Messerschmitt Bf-109.

The manual does have all of the print wood shown. It just needs scaled up to the correct size, which is easily done. As for the plans, I have them and once this pandemic is under control I can take them to my office and scan them, and either upload them here or to Outerzone or any other free plan service. If that is of interest to anyone I would be glad to do it. I just don't know how soon it can happen.

My first plane I ever built was a Midwest Zero. It was a blast to build and it flew fast with an OS 45AX.
