Are they shipping anything? I ordered a warbird 40 days ago and they won't ship...

It's in the States. Woohoo. They say it will be here tomorrow but I doubt it. If it's really in NY right now then i might have it Saturday, more likely next week.

Well, now tracking says it's out for delivery so it looks like I'll be making a video tonight. Stay tuned.

Last night I picked up the Jeep and made the box opening video so this weekend I'll change the connector to an xt60 and get it outside for some video trials there. So far I really like it. Keep in mind, this Jeep does not come with a battery but the manual says it can take a 2 or 3 cell lipo or a529a five to nine cell Nihm.

I was talking to a friend on another forum and he had a pretty good idea. Tonight or tomorrow when I get ready to do the outdoor video I will first make a video in which I compare as many parts as I can from the Dragon kit to the ROC Jeep. I think the windshield on the ROC Jeep is Too Tall so I'll compare it against the Dragon kit and I'll also check some of the detail pieces like the Pioneer tools just to see if they're the same size or what. That might be useful information. And even though they're much smaller I have several Danbury Mint Jeeps which I believe to be very accurate so they may be good for comparing details. I wonder if I can turn the ROC Jeep into a rocket launcher Jeep? Hmmm, bottle rockets, Maybe?

I'd like to see the video too Gary.

You know, looking at the 21st Century Toy 1/6 JEEP the windshield is tall also.

Actually, there's three

I really like it. Still got some suspension work to do if I want to have a driver, and since an RC truck with no driver just looks stupid I guess we'll have to have one. Not too many of the Dragon parts will work because of the size difference, but it still has plenty of room for super detailing. The radio really has four channels so hopefully more upgrades will be forthcoming. It needs sound, and tail lights, and being able to turn the lights on and off would be cool, even if it's just with a hard switch underneath. The manual lists a few upgrade parts, like aluminum bumpers and a canvas top, but I have no idea where to buy them. FSM, the place I got the jeep, doesn't have anything in the way of accessories except one suspension part, a ball tube, I think. I'll do an update once I get a chance to play with it some more.

Good to see another out there. Its a fun crawler & runs well enough with one figure onboard but I still haven't chopped up GI Joe to make it fit better.

FMS stated upgrade parts would be available mid-May but I've yet to see them offered anywhere.

Clark has posting several videos of their initial trials of their new board which really brings the MB to life with a range of sounds, lighting & improved speed control. Have no idea on the price yet but that's on my list for upgrades.

More outdoor stuff, and info from the manual, which is really pretty good. Lots of exploded view drawings and a complete list of parts and part numbers, I'm already thinking of trying the wheels and tires on the dragon kit with the 12mm adapters for the bruiser axles.

So just for kicks I tried it on a 3S lipo and man, what a difference. Not only did I get higher top speed, as expected, it also has much better low speed control with the higher voltage. You still have to be careful, and a twitchy finger will be a problem because the throttle is very touchy, but with a smooth and steady hand it preforms very realistically, especially when climbing a slope. Should I get some video of that part?

Yeah I would love to see video with the 3s battery. Would love to see how much weight it can pull......something with wheels and some weight. Guess you know where I'm going with this.
Thanks,
Brad

Check the thread at the other forum, I just pasted all the reasons I think it will work and what it will take.

Sorry, which forum? Also wondering about the hitch for towing.

This one

https://www.rctankwarfare.co.uk/foru...29460&start=40

I'll have it out later, I'll try to get some performance shots but I really don't have a lot of rough terrain. I've got this one ditch that's a pretty good test of climbing ability, and that's usually a sign of good towing capability. I'll get some close ups of the hitch, I think the plastic will just be too weak, but it's shouldn't be all that difficult a fix. I think I could machine something.

I was wondering if the shocks could be dissasembled and just replace the stock springs with some stiffer ones or do you think they will need to replaced altogether? Also, this board that was being talked about earlier, is that a sound system? I've done that on a couple rc planes for the startup and running sequence on a P-51 merlin engine. It even follows the throttle stick to replicate your rpm. Very cool.

OK, first, here's some more video

I think it will work fine for you, with just a few modifications. The shocks can be completely taken apart and you can probably get stiffer springs, or maybe you could replace the whole shock/spring unit. I've also heard that a thicker oil in the shocks can work wonders. All this remains to be experimented with, but I know of at least three experienced guys that are planning mods so with a little patience I think it will all come together quite nicely.

If they make parts available I'll definitely use these tires and rims on the dragon kit, and maybe the axles, too, if they become available. If not I'll go with the bruiser axles and the 12mm hex kit. And if axles become available i'll take a close look at one for the Kubel kits.

Oh yeah, if you're talking about the new clark board that's planned it will be a lot like a tank board, will give motor control and have a place to plug in the steering servo, and should have built in sound and light circuits. I'll be interested to see what kind of price he can manage. At $100 they would probably sell OK, but a lot better at $60 or $75. If he can bring them in at $50 I'll buy several of them, but I ain't holdin' my breath.

If he's smart he'll set it up so you use the stock esc, and then he should be able to make them pretty cheap. Remember the new board for the 1/16 trucks has lights and sound and comes with a TX and it's still only 40 bucks.

Thanks for all that info Gary. The hitch looks pretty cool and realistic but your probably right that the hitch and bumper both should be aluminum. Let me know if that's something you can do. I would love to see that video of Clark's new board as well.

Hey Gary, looks like that Jeep should be able to handle the plane. Great video. I'm on super short grass and the P-38 has pretty good sized wheels. I was thinking that if the whole rear bumper/hitch assembly is removable that it could completely be replaced by metal and slid right back in there. Your thoughts?
