Perfect fit but I think Belle would be more fitting in the driver's seat.

Great trail crawler - not so good on the rocks
So far I only used the Jeep on fairly easy trails, but a couple days ago I tried some more difficult rocks. I don't actually know when it happened, but back at home I found that I had lost the ax and ripped the steel front upper link right out of the plastic ball end. I was able to clean the plastic from the metal threads and screw the ball end back on, but I am not sure how long it will last. Tomorrow I will be on a mission to try to find the lost ax. What are my chances for that?
The moral of the story: enjoy your Jeep but treat it with care. As I tell kids when I let them try a crawler, "Drive like you are in it and your mom sits next to you."
Don't get me wrong, I still love the Jeep, but it has limitations.

That looks really good. I especially like the look of the canvas top folded in the back.
Now I'll have to go search for pictures of different ways to stow the top.

Building a mount for a .50 was a lot easier than I thought it would be. I just took a piece of 1/2 inch aluminum bar stock, necked it down at one end til it measured a step of .234 x .200 and drilled & tapped the end for a 3 x 0.5 cap screw and the other end got a 6mm hole to accept the mount on the .50 cal (the .50 is from Soldiers of the World and I got it for ten bucks on evilbay), cut it to length and a coat of paint. If you look under the jeep where the post mounts you'll see it's countersunk to accept a 3mm flat head cap screw, which is what I used. So if anyone else needs one I have tons of bar stock at the shop and can make as many of these as I want. Do you think ten bucks is unreasonable? I believe I can send one anywhere with a zip code for bout $3 so maybe ten bucks including the postage? You guys know me, I ain't trying to get rich, I just can't spend too much on other guys' projects or I'll run out of loot for my own!! I don't even know if there will be any interest, and most of you can do this without any help from me, but if someone is interested just holler and we'll see if we can get you fixed up. And please don't think this is advertising, I don't care if I sell any or not, I'm just trying to help my fellow modelers get a .50 in their Jeeps without having to pay for it myself. I don't think that's unreasonable, but if anyone disagrees I'm open to discussion on the topic.

I believe the problem is the gun cradle, it should mount the gun further back in the jeep. One of the 1/6 scale accessory merchants may have the actual cradle used, or maybe a 3D file you can print?

The post is nice and stable, but I'm thinking about a set screw to lock the traverse. I also ordered a .30 so we'll see how long it takes to get here. Mail has been late since the Kung Flu reared her ugly head. The .30 should hang down and point almost straight up, so at least it won't smack the driver in the bean.

Anyone have the trailer yet? Just ordered one after seeing it appear at the local dealer.
Already had to replace the ESC but that was undoubtedly due to too much play in the water.

Mine is "In Transit" and was accepted on the 18th in Hong Kong. If the seller's estimate is correct I am hoping for it to arrive here by the end of next week, but you never know with the mail service lately. Already I am thinking that I should have spend the $30 to have it shipped by FedEx and it would have been here in 3 days, just like the Jeep.

Banggood is about the cheapest and they have the top, tires & rims, and axles and I imagine they'll soon have the trailer. If you want to see what's out there do a google search for "1/6 roc mb scaler".

again, never dealt with them but they have the trailer, much less than the place in the UK that wanted 99 quid.

I have had good experiences with AsiaTees. Ordered my wife's Humvee from them last year and the Jeep this summer for myself. Now waiting for the trailer to arrive. Their prices seem to be reasonable.

Gotta love Taobao & STO logistics. Ordered 1600 yesterday & its already halfway to Hangzhou so will arrive tomorrow morning. Not bad for ¥12 - $2.00 - S&H.
I sew my dealer is now offering a skid plate set for off-road use.

Trailer arrived & I'm quite impressed, especially with its live axle with leaf springs. Will make a nice addition to the MB.

The trailer did arrive today as expected and looks great behind the Jeep. We also had our first snow yesterday, now everybody is a little underdressed. While the trailer looks great, the Jeeps trailer hitch is a disappointment. As soon as you start driving off road and the trailer bounces a little the hitch opens and the trailer unhooks. I already checked the spring-loaded hitch on the Humvee, but being a smaller scale the ring from the trailer does not fit into the hitch. I have to figure out a way to attach a spring to keep the top of the hitch down.

I used a zip tie to keep it closed when I was pulling the 155, but then you have to give up quick disconnect as you'll have to cut the tie to detach the trailer.

Thanks, Gary. It is a little cumbersome using the zip tie, but it is worth a try. I was also thinking of a small, black O-Ring. Not sure if it would stay in place unless I file a groove in the top and bottom part of the pintle hitch. Ultimately I need to make it work like the hitch on the Humvee. If they can create something in 1/10 scale it should be possible to modify the 1/6 scale hitch with a spring. My son plays guitar, maybe he has a broken string for me that is suitable to wind a small spring.
