What is the M-ATV?
MRAP All Terrain Vehicles (M-ATV).
The Oshkosh Defense M-ATV is a variant of our armored MTVR, a proven vehicle that has protected and served the USA military men and women in off-road operations for years.
To ensure superior protection and survivability, Oshkosh is partnered with Plasan North America to provide the Oshkosh M-ATV’s armor system. Plasan has produced armor systems for more than 5,000 current MRAP vehicles and for the Armored Cab MTVR. These armor systems have saved lives in both Iraq and Afghanistan. The vehicle also will feature Oshkosh’s signature TAK-4® independent suspension system for exceptional off-road ride quality and durability to meet the essential capability not available in the current MRAP fleet.
The crew survived unhurt.

We had a wrecked MRAP yard behind our compound while I was at Kandahar Airfield. It is amazing how much damage those things can take and still have the crew compartment intact. I have two of the Trumpeter non-RC ones in my closet. I was planning on RC'ing them, but if someone did it for me I might sell the kits and pick up the RTRs.

I decided to pick up a set for myself... Can't wait for them to get here.
#7
Mine also. Payment has cleared and I got the Email saying they were getting them ready to ship.
#8
Yes, please review them when you get them. I'm going to wait and see how you and John like them before I decide if I want to buy one of my own. I just keep remembering the debacle with Torro and the schwimmwagen so I'm a little bit gun-shy.
#9
Well my order has been picked up by Fedex. I'll definitely post some pics when I get them. I had always planned on R/C'ing my Trumpeter kits, but if they did it for me and do it well then I can't argue with it. Time is a real killer of my projects.

Are they coming from the UK? How much did they hit you for shipping? For the schwimmwagen it would have been $75 for postage. This is why I'm really hoping that imex will carry the mraps. If you guys want to see them sold in the United States, it might be a good idea to message Erik. If he sees enough interest, I'm sure they'll start carrying them here in the states.

FedEx Delivery
My order is delivering tomorrow (?) from:
TORRO GMBH
AM ROEHRIG 2
GROSSOSTHEIM, BY, DE, 63762 Germany
(to CA USA)
It cost $75.00 for two MRAPs via FedEx.
Taigen USA would be a trusted source, but the wait against the holiday season would be painful. Shipping is a little pricey, the delivery by FedEx is scheduled to be insured and quick and that is a plus.

Lets see if that works
Needs more steering travel for sure, and I hope the speed control was just a case of heavy hands on the controller rather than a cheap esc?

The video you posted Crius is from 2016. I've seen that one. It was a custom conversion of the static kit. The static kit comes with springs, but they do not actuate. So in the new video John posted there are springs there, but the suspension does not move.

Ok so its basically the same driveline as their M16 Halftrack then by the looks of things. Very short coil spring in the axles like the M16 has on the front, and I'm guessing the same electronics. It will take a little butchery, but somebody should be able to figure out how to get the WPL / JJRC running gear installed on it.

Torro RC MRAP Failures!
Sorry to hear about the expensive “tankme” Torro RTR MRAP failure-mess. I am going to keep the M-ATV and holiday gift the MRAP, new in the box, but with a disclaimer now: as this is a project and not RTR.
Regret posting content about these RTR MRAP RC poor quality toys, now! They can be DYI saved, though. My Torro M-16 Halftrack is old and still running, so very disappointed to learn that all is not well with these new Torro RC Toys.
Bottom line, not a good value, and I do not recommend the Torro RTR MRAPs and my wife warned me about buying these Chinese RTR toys. Did not listen, of course. John
