Just to show you never can tell with ST carbs, this is the carb from my NIB ST S45 ringed. Same idle needle as mentioned but a similar style barrel type main needle.

That's only with Shell Racing A which has 3% acetone but they only sell it in their own new drums so that adds to the purchase price. All other brands (mainly BP) are sold from bulk and are straight...

Take an ordinary crankshaft with the usual cutaways for balance. It's roughly 1.25" diameter so 4" circumference. That's 1/3 feet. At 15,000 revs the "tip" speed of that crank is just under 60 mph....

Flushing the engine is a good idea because the tiniest bit of alloy swarf on the plug coil will kill the plug and swarf tends not to be a very good lubricant :).
