RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Humidity has alot to do with tuning, just as altitude and temperature does, so yes, you will notice days where your planes will smoke more or less than others. As long as they run great, I never...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Some fuels smoke more than others, and old fuel tends to smoke more too because the lack of nitro and methanol which eveporates over time, leaving you with a higher oil content per volume. Just...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Moving the engine forward the thickness of plywood, will change the CG, but not enough to where you'll notice it in the air.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Oh, sorry... You can use that four stroke fuel with no worries, but it's pretty smokey in my opinion. Just get the cool power 15% next time, and you'll have to retune slightly. I always loved cool...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I tried the cool power 15% four stroke fuel and hated it. Lately, i've been buying 20/20 non castor, and mixing it down to 15/15 with methanol, and comin out with an almost free extra 40 ounces of...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I don't have a regulator on any of my engines, and they all run like swiss watches. I have 1 inverted and 3 horizontal mountings. No issues as of yet...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I agree... I seldom need to touch the needles on any of my 4 Saito engines. Occassionally I do turn a high speed needle 1 or 2 clicks to adjust for temp and or humidity, but basically I just start...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I would check the valves for the proper lash first, then I would try leaning the high end one click at a time, and see if the power comes back. You may be a little on the rich side.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

As long as it didn't break anything, it should be fine. I seriously doubt that it bent the crank. Fire it up, it will be just fine I bet.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I want more 40 size planes, so I can use more 56's, I just love those little engine's. I have an 80, but I need to put the kit in the carb. It's going to replace a Magnum 70 that I have on a Super...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

It's still alot less oil than what a 2 stroke nitro engine expells by a long shot.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

That just might work. All I know is that the exhaust of a 4 stroke will melt solder. I found this out when I slodered a pressure nipple onto a muffler once. Had to braze it finally. Those little...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Have you flown it yet ? I have yet been able to keep an exhaust extension on a 4 stroke. They get hot and slide off in flight every time. I've tried wire ties (2), and they still come off somehow.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I've been a mechanic for 35 years, and been flyin RC since 2002, and I don't see the point in any of this pressure hose needing a check valve, regulator, or being routed to a clunk instead of the...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Just make sure the crankshaft is at top dead center, and use a single edge razor blade against the bottom of the cam cover, and between the teeth, to hold the cam gear (with the dot straight down) in...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Without a check valve in a pressure hose going to a clunk, the fuel would just run out. Personally, I think that the pressure from the weight of the fuel would overpower the slight pressure of the...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Sometimes I use a second clunk line to a fuel dot, but their so darn hard to pull out, so I usually just make two holes in the cowling, put in rubber gromets, and loop the fuel line thru the holes,...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

The pressure hose should go to the vent, not to a clunk in the fuel.
Only the line to the carb should go to a clunk.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I think it would put exhaust pressure into the crankcase. I have a Magnum 70 that runs the vent back into the intake manifold. It seems to work great ! Kinda like the PCV valve on vehicle.
