RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Here's my largest twin. 100 cubic inches and 100+ hp. Sounds as sweet as any Saito twin :)

Filling the cylinder with after-run oil and then re-installing the glow plug would work better than string. The hydraulic lock will be much more positive. Applying heat to the loc-tite will...

Go with a Turboheader and ask them to make you a small extension.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Let me guess which cylinder keeps going cold... facing the front of the engine, is it the one on the lower left? I've had the same problem with a 170R3 and it requires a glow driver for any...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I had one and it was a great little engine. Not the most powerful, but ran great. I'm not aware of an updated version beyond the silver box edition.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I've been flying a foamie T-28 parkflyer with OS .26 for at least a year. It's a great combination! I'd like to try it with a Saito .30

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I've got a pair of .56's and they are great little engines but my favorite by far is the 2.70. I have four of them flying at the moment and have owned three others.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I moved to Atlanta just in time for Opal. We lost 10,000 trees and had no electricity for over a week. Was quite a welcome to the south :)

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Looks like you need better air flow for cooling. The rule of thumb I've always used for cowled engines is the exit of hot air needs to be 3x the size of your fresh air intake. Both intake and exit...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

For simple things like nuts and bolts, I just go to my local Ace hardware. They've got a great selection of metric hardware.

Geez - How about just spending $20 on a simple reversing Y-harness from Maxx products instead? They're cheap and reliable and simple. Plug-n-play. I've got hundreds of flights on them without a...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Thanks earlwb, but that doesn't really answer my question. As W8ye asked: Sharpeye22 - which cam did you use?

Incidentally, in your photo, the props on the plane appear to be both standard...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I've got the same plane and a pair of Saito .56's for it. Can you share details of how you changed the right engine to counter rotating, please?

Thanks in advance.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I've got a 1.30 in a Nosen Champ. I just fuel and fly it. I didn't know it had defective valve seats and carburetors and dampers, etc. Apparently the engine doesn't know it either! Runs like a......

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Happy to help. I've got four or five 2.70's and they've all been terrific engines. Let me know if I can answer any questions.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

1 ounce per cubic inch per minute at wide open throttle is a very good rule of thumb. I've got a 28 ounce tank so that gives me a solid 10 minutes+ of run time at wide open throttle. The McDaniel...

Here's one of my 2.70's running. The 2.70T is a single carb.
