RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

9,500 to 10,900 is a very large window. Is the engine RPM unstable at wide open throttle ? With that muchchange you will be ableto hear the difference, is this the case or is the tach just changing...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

People have used a wide range of engines on this plane.
I have seen all up weight posted between 8.2 lbs and 9.6 lbs.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Mike, as far as aribitary numbers go that is a very nice set of them.
Unfortunately they are just that; arbitary, since the HP figure is virtually worthless.
It really is too bad that there is...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Might be a good time to go ahead and get the Saitos.
I have found that wife irritation lasts about the same for most things so since she is stirred up might as well take advantage of it instead of...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

LOL sorry guys, that looks horrible.
We were crying like red headed step children when we woke up and there was 1/4" of ice on everything.
Thank goodness it melted and dried off by mid afternoon.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

All of my engines idle very reliably for extended periods of time, while I have never actually tried to idle a full tank of fuel I am confident that any of my four strokes would eventually do it.
I...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

No, I have only used the Omega and my 'home brew concoction'.
I am not going to do anything 'special' for this engine.
My brother and I share, we mostly run OS and Magnum 70 and 91 four strokes...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

This one has a full gallon of the Omega fuel through it plus 24 oz of my 'home brew concoction'.
It may change with more run time but I figure it is what it is at this point.
I know that this is...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Ok here are the numbers on the Saito 125 after I switched to my 'custom mix' fuel and put a "final" tune on both needle valves.
First the fuel, it is a mix of 1 gal Cool Power, 3 gal Wild Cat, and...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Oh yeah, I made a nice thick batch of cornbread.
Wifey even did her duty to my tradition by choking down two peas but the face she made when I told her only 363 more to go made me bust out with a...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

LOL. yes I agree, I have never seen an engine shake like that, it could quite possibly break an airplane.
On the first runs the rpm was between 3k and 4k and I thought the reports of vibration were...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Probably sounds a lot louder, which may or may not be an issue depending on the flying site.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I agree with you on all counts Ken6PPC.
Right now I say this engine is a winner even with the 'violent' shaking at 2.3k maybe it will settle down completely with the final LSN adjustment, but if...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

OK fellows here is an update on the events of the morning.
First thing to note is the 8k reading at WOT last night was bogus.
In the good light it was 5700.
Ran the first tank this morning...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

After following the thread where a 125 would not hold good rpm on the high end, and seeing many different reports on what the engine will or rather will not do, I just couldn't wait any longer to run...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Hello fellows, I have been following another thread about a Saito 125 under performing and would like to know what the real world power is for this engine.
If it was just one person with low rpm I...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

The hobby shop I buy fuel from is an hour drive on the tollway so its not like I go there very often for a recreational visit.
Fuel is the last item left that gives me a reason to go there, so when...
