Maybe, but I have never seen a speed shop that sells fuel. Summit and Jegs do not sell fuel, at least not from their web site. Racetracks, and sometimes a side business of a gasoline fuel company...

I would never buy $20 a gallon fuel when you can mix yourself for well under $10. The price of the components have not changed much. The fuel only costs that because of low demand and fixed costs...

I suspect the distributor is worried that some will have the gap so that the valve never seats.  Doesn't matter if it has a gap hot, if it won't start it won't get hot.
