could be the servo is just moving that slow, I've seen it happen from binding and just old worn out servos.

you might want to try shaving a few inches off both sides of that prop, it should help dramatically with the transition. [8D]

engine problems are easiest to work out on a test stand, then you know the only problem with the installation into a plane is the fuel system.

i don't have any dealings with 'Evo' engines so i can't compare it to the ST but you can't go by engine displacement and expect the same performance out of the same displacement from different MFGs. ...

don't believe everything you read, 9500 is ballpark for the 40 and 11K would be for the 45

yes, a pinch test can defiantly give you the indication that the engine is set to the rich side till you get up to around 20K and higher.

the 'play' between the rod and the crank you mention is there for lubricant intrusion into the journal, if this was a tight/press fit then the friction would quickly cause excessive heat and wear. ...

runout would be side to side movement of the crank, preload is the front to back movement and is set by the bearings, if you have play you've got bearing problems.
