RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Yes, I did try setting valve lash to 0.0005" on one of my 1.25's, and I did have trouble getting it to idle well. It didn't start easily either. I opened them back up to just under 0.002", and I...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I don't know if you could get a Saito 82 to fit in the space you have available to you. However, if you could, you would be hard pressed to find more 4C power. It is comparable to the Mag 52 4C in...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I thought you were SUPPOSED to run the valve lash at .002"? In fact, some advocate as little as .0005" valve lash when cold. I read that in Bill Robinson's "Saito Notes". ...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Don't turn it over any more!

I'd open it up, and take a look. You might have lost a bearing, and now have debris inside. If so, turning it over will only make things worse!

Take the...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I have three Saito .82's and I used to own a Saito .91. (I traded my .91.) My response is based on my own personal experiences, which is admitedly limited.

I think the .91 is a little...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I agree with w8ye. It would be best to wait until you have this engine in hand, so you can see what has been damaged.

I did a search, and I believe it was this auction that you won: ...

Are you talking about this plane?

It probably could hover the plane if the weight was kept under 10 lbs. However, it...

Ilike the Sullivanon-board glow systemmyself. It lets me use nearly any battery I want, including a Lipo to save weight. The Sullivan single cylinder unit only weighs 34 grams (just over 1.1 oz.),...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

My 1st Saito 1.25 shook so bad when it was new, Iwas nearlyPOSITIVE I had a lemon. As it broke in, and Ileaned the low speed needle valve, it ran better and better. Now, it is smooth as silk, and...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Ihave a Saito 82 on a profile too.

Try thicker foam underyour fueltank, and attach the tank with rubber bands. Don't compress the foam!

Profiles vibrate TERRIBLY!

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I'm not at home right now, or Icould weigh one for you. Here is a listing of Saito specs, and it shows the 1.50 to develop 2.5 HP vs. 2.2 for the 1.25. Idon't know how much you can rely on those HP...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Are you CERTAIN you didn't reverse the fuel line with the pressure line? My Saitos will pull fuel up by suction, even my 1.50. Not 2 or 3 feet, but it will an inch or two, and never seem to even...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Castor is a love/hate thing. You either love it or hate it. Me, I'd NEVER run an engine without at least some castor in the fuel mix, especially a new one.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I'd add 3 or 4 oz. of castor per gallon of fuel with nothing but synthetic oil in it.

Use this site to figure out what the total oil content will change to when adding oil.
