RE: *** CLUB SUPER TIGRE ***

Fly the model at various throttle settings and do some slow rolls and long climbs. You may have to dive before climbing to do this with low throttle. What I am suggesting is that it's probably not...

RE: *** CLUB SUPER TIGRE ***

I was getting a peak of 9100 on the 16-10, and I richened it to 8700 or so to fly. The 16-8 turned up over 9500, but that was a while ago in very hot weather.

As for the 18-8 being too fast for...

RE: *** CLUB SUPER TIGRE ***

I use a 16-10 2 blade, and I think it's perfect for getting the most overall power out of the engine. The 18-8 is too much, unless you want to lug the engine down into the 7000 rpm range.

RE: *** CLUB SUPER TIGRE ***

Update on the g90.

Pinched the outlets of the muffler down to gain better needle response. Changed the glow plug and now it's perfect. The plug was giving up on me and caused all the...

RE: *** CLUB SUPER TIGRE ***

Just put the first three flights on my G90 in my Midwest Citabria. Two ended in deadsticks. The engine has a little rough spot in it right now, but I haven't tuned it for the lower temps. I really...

RE: *** CLUB SUPER TIGRE ***

He says he's got a 2500, if so, that's a low nitro engine. If it's a 2300, 15% Omega is what he wants. I question this because not many people have the 2500.

RE: *** CLUB SUPER TIGRE ***

Glad to hear your G90 is doing so much better with the Magnum carb. My 2300 is using the same carb, and runs fine also. My G90 has the stock carb and runs well on the ground, although, it's not...

RE: *** CLUB SUPER TIGRE ***

I really like all the intelligent responses to the ST threads. Thanks for that, and keep them coming.

When I put my ST carb on a flow meter to check how it functioned, this is what I found. ...

RE: *** CLUB SUPER TIGRE ***

I have a new G90 on the test stand. I've run it a few times, about 4 tanks of fuel. Today I played with the needles a little bit. I noticed that the rich midrange was there, but I tuned it out...

RE: *** CLUB SUPER TIGRE ***

The head was inside the cowl, but I cut a big hole there anyway for cooling. In the beginning, it seemed like it was running hot, so I opened everything up really big. It didn't hurt the looks of...

RE: *** CLUB SUPER TIGRE ***

My Sukhoi does very well on the 17-8. Not much difference between that and the 16-10. They both turn up over 9000 with my setup. I'm wondering what yours turns with the stock carb.

BTW, the...

RE: *** CLUB SUPER TIGRE ***

Actually it's 5 to 15%. It'll run on 10 just fine, but I prefer the needle settings i get on the 15.

RE: *** CLUB SUPER TIGRE ***

I changed the carb and installed a pump. To me, that's not extensively modified. I believe 15% nitro is in the recommended range from ST. Others have said to use low nitro.

I still have to...

RE: *** CLUB SUPER TIGRE ***

I fly 3d just fine with my two strokes. I think four strokes are better for it, but not a requirement. Sound has a lot to do with it. Four strokes can stumble on throttle up too. It's not a quirk...

RE: *** CLUB SUPER TIGRE ***

What prop did you use for break-in? Are you going to fly 3D or "normal" aerobatics?

Mine turns a 13-8 over 12k, so I would tend to prop for a little lower rpm. I think a 14-7 or 14-8 should do...

RE: *** CLUB SUPER TIGRE ***

That's interesting, but it goes against everything I have learned about the 2300 carb. Would it be possible to post a sketch with dimensions and an explaination to back this up? How about a flight...

RE: *** CLUB SUPER TIGRE ***

I have as much enthusiasm for super Tigre engines as you do. My problem is I don't have the time or the weather right now to get into models. I'm looking forward to the new flying season. I like...

RE: *** CLUB SUPER TIGRE ***

I tried politely to make this same point via a pm, but I don't think I was successful in persuading Buzz to back off a little. Personally, I think there must be some sort of contest going on to see...

RE: *** CLUB SUPER TIGRE ***

About break-in

When I first ran my 2300, I was really impressed with it. It ran smooth and quiet, throttled and idled well after about 32 ozs. of fuel on the test stand. I ran several more...

RE: *** CLUB SUPER TIGRE ***

I'm sure there are better ones out there, but I went with the Magnum 1.08 carb. I made an adapter sleeve to get it to fit the engine. I'm running it with the sleeve in the barrel, although I did...

RE: *** CLUB SUPER TIGRE ***

Great! Glad it's working for you. I think you can get even more power with another muffler. I can almost see 9000 with a 17-8 apc. My plane is a little heavier, and flies perfectly with the 2300....

RE: *** CLUB SUPER TIGRE ***

My turn!!!

ST carb design is probably okay. The main problem with the 2300 is that it's got way too big of a venturi. Hence, the fuel draw problems. Tank placement should not be overly...

RE: *** CLUB SUPER TIGRE ***

Nobody ever said this was a poor man's hobby. A G90 doesn't burn that much fuel compared to a Saito 1.80. I know it's apples and oranges, but the people who have those have a reason to complain...
