RE: WACO YMF

Bill, it got up to 86 here with 10% humidity and slight breeze. Sun was up at 6:30 AM, perfect time for clean air.

RE: WACO YMF

Don
Why not go for the RCS 150 5 cylinder radial? It would be a perfect match. I used the RCS 215 on my 33% YMF and it weighs 55 pounds, not an ounce less. A 100cc engine might get it airborne but...

RE: WACO YMF

Anthony,
Do you know the diameter of the cowl you need for the 1/4 Waco? If it is 10 1/2" you are in luck. There is a guy in Oregon that makes them for the YKS-6. They should be the same cowl, he...

RE: WACO YMF

Vincent
Kangke currently has the UPF-7 in two sizes, 1/5 scale and 1/7 scale. Both are ARF's and great flying planes.

RE: WACO YMF

Bill,
I thought you would have tossed the Zenoah by now and shoe-horned in a 400 Moki, after all, isn't that what you really want? The 150 RCS is going to be a close fit in the YKS, 10" engine in a...

RE: WACO YMF

RE: WACO YMF

Bill,
We have to come up with something to put a RCS 150 radial into. I'm looking into a 25% HKS-6, that should match up pretty well. I have the plans, cowl, & wheel pants already. I'm meeting with...

RE: WACO YMF

Jim,
The RCS 215 Radial is now $3650 and a new Genesis 33% kit is $2500. There was one on RCU s few weeks ago for $17,000 ready to fly. That is not out of range for this plane. You can add in an...

RE: WACO YMF

Bill,
Don't feel bad, we had a dose of that frigid artic air hit us last night too. Had to resort to a sweatshirt to fly. That is just not normal here. Global warming my hiney!

RE: WACO YMF

Bill,
Yep, that is the RCS (Moki) 215. I saw Mikes at another event last summer, sure does a good job. That particular engine is much quieter than the comparable electrics I've seen and a lot more...

RE: WACO YMF

Bill,
I am using a panel very similar except the insert on mine is brushed brass, .005 thick with a 3/32 square aluminum border. I'll post some photos when I get a little farther along with it. The...

RE: WACO YMF

Bill,
The new ones should be a little lighter than the earlier kits. Mine is a 2001 kit and I'm struggling to keep the weight down to 55 pounds. I have changed several components and dropped the...

RE: WACO YMF

I have two of these engines, they are light, compact, and easy starting. Here is a photo of one in a Pica Waco 1/5 cowl. The very tip of the head will protrude through the cowl.
