RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

ALL metals respond to heat cycling. Some just repond differently than others. The aluminum in the cylinder does and the piston does.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I have instruction sheets that came with Saito engines that say DO NOT USE castor oil. I ignore them but that's what they say. I would bet the Aussie guy is quoting those instructions.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Haven't you guys heard?? Saito has jumped on the OS bandwagon and is now turning out junk engines so they can sell more of them. After you buy one and have a problem they refuse to honor the warranty...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I find it hard to believe that Horizon said it was the Hobby Shop's problem. I was in the business for years and the standard deal was to send the engine back to the manufacturer or distributor or...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Saito also made it in a rear induction version which I also have. These were imported by Hobby Shack when the company was the saito importer and distributor.

Gee Bill, you mean like this? It's a G60F, Bill. Not a G60S. Says so right on the engine.

Here's a little Saito 60 for you to look at. It's a bit different from all the others.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Here are a couple pictures of Saito 45 boxed engines I have. As you can see they say Mk. MKII, and one has nothing in the white circle. The one with nothing is an AAC and was the first one with the...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I have been using a Saito 45 on a Pilot Sky Loop 404 for 15 years and lately another one on a Ace 4-40. I run an 11x6 on both Top Flite wooden prop. They turn about 9900RPM on 10% nitro and fly both...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

It will turn if you loosen the nut.

There were at least three versions of the 45. The first had a bolt on head and wasn't all that powerful. The Mkii had a one piece cylinder/head. The last...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

And you will notice that Willie was deleted too. Seems only fair seeing as you can't tell when he's "joking" and when he's not. See post 8486. Oh and Bruce didn't "go off". And the offer still...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Now why would I buy a used engine from you for the price of an inferior new one? I wouldn't waste my money on any Magnum, Taiwanese or Chinese. They are nickel plated too. Why would I buy one when I...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Wow, what a surprise. Your 46FX is just like the thousands of other OS 46FX's that weren't abused. Just like mine. Just like the thousands and thousands of cheap nickel plated FSR's, SF's, VF's,...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Bill,

Since you have 4 OS engines and you say they are no good, Why don't you just end them to me. I would be happy to be saddled with them

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I am using two Saito 45's now. One in an Ace 4-40 and one in a Sky Loop 404. Both run on 10% nitro which is more than enough.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Ah, but I was and I am. I also had a Goldberg Cub with an old Saito 45 with the bolt on head. It WOULD NOT loop from straight level flight. It flew just like a real one. You had to dive it into a...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

A Saito 150 will pull a 19 pound Stearman just fine. Very scale. I have an old OS120 on a 21 pound Super Cub and it will loop from flat and level. Scale airplanes are supposed to fly like the real...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I own a starter or two but almost never use them. Usually only on little engines smaller than 25.
