LiFe 6.4 volt batteries are another option they can be had in various Ma's a 2000 to 4000 would be fine . Almost any of the newer receivers can handle that voltage.

I've used them since day one in the hobby and always had great luck with them. It was a sad day earlier this year when they closed their doors.

It's been done but some have used a second receiver which is simpler IMO. You can bind two receivers to the same model.
