new monster boat projects
some guys of you know that we are working on scale models of the famous CESA1882 / SuperHawaii / Gancia dei Gancia / Tecno / Red FTP.
We have got original 2D-data buy Fabio Buzzi who has designed and constructed this WC-boat in the 80ies.
http://fbdesign.it/historic%20boats.php
Currently we are working to transfer the 2D data into a 3D database. Our plan is to make 2 model sizes:
No. 1 will have a hull length of 160cm which will have an overall length of nearly 200cm.
No. 2 will have a hull length of 270cm......
I think we will have the molds end of this year, then we will be able to produce the model kits which will include everything needed. Material will be gfk or cfk with aircraft epoxy, exact spec will follow.
At the same time Werner of WD200 and me are designing the complete hardware and other useful things which will allow to make a 98% scale model of that boat.
Not 100% because we are going to optimize the hull's bottom for modelling purpose and the powertrains will be a bit different to scale.
Gas powerhouses:
Both types will allow to install gas engines, No.1 from 2 single 2-strokers up to a triple engine (my WASP HOUSE will fit with a special designed gearbox with 4 counter rotating outputs). Maybe even RAT HOUSE will fit but this has to be investigated.
No.2 will allow to install everything known up to 2 RAT HOUSEs with gearboxes, so you'll get 4 outputs as well. Or 4 Conellies......
Electric powerhouses: each single available e-motor of the model market will fit up to 4 motors, space enough.
Keep you further informed

Wow!!! .... now them some seriously big hulls, can't wait for the progress on this thread. Remember seeing these hulls in smaller electric versions years ago when I was a kid.
Monster hulls is sure going to need monster water to run too ...hehe
Subscribed for sure. ;-)
Cheers

Looking awesome Thomas, keen to see one of these with twin Rat houses and 4 drives hanging off the back, it certainly will be one impressive model...

Mick: son Tobias will come to Australia in April and will give a DVD with a lot of pics and vids to you. You are in contact as I know.
3D data of the models will last a bit longer, we are going into details now..... and when finished I will send all data to Fabio Buzzi to get a release.... Thomas

these are 2 out of six which have been made by Hans-Peter Rotschi. The mold has been destroyed as he has stated.
But: Hans-Peter has produced 4 different CESA hulls with different sizes in the past and none of them was scale due to not avail data.
All molds are gone......
The last ones have been the biggest ones and nearest to scale, but even these monsters had to be improved at the hull's bottom.
Now we have the original data and have seen, what kind of mistakes have been done in the past, our goal now is to eliminate all
these failures and to create perfectly running hulls.
Currently I am thinking to visit Fabio Buzzi's shipyard a second time to discuss the geometry and to make more pics because I have
forgotten some during our (Hans-Peter and me) visit in 2012.

I have gone thru H.P.R face book page , there is a few more pictures there on his page, but as you said , it is quite obvious now that they were missing some finer details, very impressive all the same. And the video of it looks like the 35cc engines that were in there working quite hard to keep it on plane, so I think twin rathouses will be just what they need.
How Big is Fabio Buzzi's shipyard? bet there is a world of knowledge to be obtained there.....
Cheers Mick

Mick, I do not know exactly how big the shipyard of Fabio is, I thight s.th. like 100 x 150 meters ??
And you are 100% correct, these two 35cc MATHES have not been strong enough but in theses days nothing better was avail.
