Bingo... the throttle to elevator mix that neutralizes the elevator at low throttle solved the trim disparity between power on/off trim to allow a correct landing glide slope.

I provided a 15° wedge shim to angle the gear back. It looks bad and only reduced the weight on the tail wheel by 6 oz (half what is needed). To do that is not the answer or a reasonable fix. I...

The hatch screws on the SW are prone to coming out unless tightened enough one thinks they are going to crush wood.

I think I promised a report on adjusting the wheel position. I haven't done...

There are two possible approaches to the use of the elevator when landing the Spacewalker. You outline the first, to make a wheel landing and be very careful with the elevator to avoid going...

If the needed upthrust were done, the engine would look weird and the space around the spinner would be far out of alignment. I can never recall seeing a plane given up thrust. The Spacewalker is a...

Scuba... You should not feel alone in thinking the plane was initially nose heavy due to the up elevator trim needed (in my case 1/4 inch). What I soon discovered however was that the up trim...

RE: Seagull Spacewalker II 120 Arf

I had the field to myself this afternoon to get several flights in with the Spacewalker following its weight loss. First observation is that the performance of the Spacewalker didn't change much. ...

RE: Seagull Spacewalker II 120 Arf

Thanks for the weight report.

Just balanced and weighed mine following the engine change. Weight is 12 lbs 4 oz and it balanced by moving the batteries slightly forward from where they had been...

RE: Seagull Spacewalker II 120 Arf

About half way there on the engine replacement from Zenoah G-26 to Evolution 20GX. First effort was to say good bye to the tail weight. Have the mount set and the cut out relief for the muffler...

RE: Seagull Spacewalker II 120 Arf

Thanks for the report... it is what I needed to hear. Your setup is very similar to mine with 3x1300 LiFe at same locations. The exception is my engine total weight is 52.3 oz and has required...

RE: Seagull Spacewalker II 120 Arf

I'm thinking of pulling the G-26 off mine and with it hopefully the 4.5 oz of lead added to the tail. I have the cowl off and was inspecting it for suitability of using an Evolution 20GX that I've...

RE: Seagull Spacewalker II 120 Arf

I suspect that the DLE 20 exceeds the performance as the Zenoah G-26 when considering power to weight ratio. Do you know how much your plane weighs?

RE: Seagull Spacewalker II 120 Arf

Is the FG-21 easy to hand start? I made a mistake when powering my SW and used a Zenoah G-26 because I had it available with a result that it required 4.5 oz of tail weight added. That means that...

RE: Seagull Spacewalker II 120 Arf

I messed up. I've been on the negative side of the Seagull Spacewalker II 120 and now have to confess it seems it was my own doing. I built the plane more than a year ago and after several outings...

RE: Seagull Spacewalker II 120 Arf

Almost all of my planes are stored in the garage and have been for many years. Temperatures probably at times reach 110-115 but I've not noted any ill affects.

RE: Seagull Spacewalker II 120 Arf

Gary... actually I'm not thinking leak... I'm thinking the vent line to the tank is getting pinched off allowing air to exit the tank under pressure but not enter the tank under much less pressure.

RE: Seagull Spacewalker II 120 Arf

Gary... sorry to hear of the loss of the MX. I didn't suffer any emotional loss over the Spacewalker as it wasn't an endeared plane but know you thought highly of your MX.

It was a beautiful...

RE: Seagull Spacewalker II 120 Arf

I had a mishap with my Spacewalker today. It spins well so I got high, put it into a spin, crossed ailerons and gave it a little throttle to flatten the spin. Mistake... when releasing everything...

RE: Seagull Spacewalker II 120 Arf

A final thought about the incidence adjustment. I think the original setup by Seagull is 0-0-0 meaning no wing or stab incidence and no engine thrust. The problem is a wing with a lot of drag at a...

RE: Seagull Spacewalker II 120 Arf

Gary... did you solder the hole in the choke plate closed? If not, do so and your priming problems should go away. I've never had to take the choke plate out to solder them. Use a wire wheel in...
