Yikes, he's back. Mr DJ. Glad to see your healthy and making noise!
For those who don't know, Mr DJ had the best RC Hangar of all time. It was like a little Smithsonian. Everything was giant...

I also interested. This will be monumental if you can pull it off.

Not sure. I know it flies well with two 160s but it is heavier...35 pounds for mine. I swing two 20x10 props on a (2) 10s 5000mahs lipos. Flight time is around 7 minutes. Takeoff is brisk,...

Mine had less than a pound of lead in the nose with all the lipos in front of the canopy. I made a hatch. The ESC is in the cowl as well. I fly with the 2 160s. I often wonder if I could have...

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

Hey John,
Nice job on the routing...that sounds difficult. How did you rout the bulkhead with the right angles and get it even all the way across? CNC machine? ;)
I would have just popped the...

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

The plane will fly this way....but will fly better with props rotating in the opposite direction. I tested both ways on my ESM Dornier 335 last year running two Eflite 160s with 20x10 props. Roll...

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

For me, it's not like I love electrics...I just hate mufflers and cylinders sticking out on scale warbirds. I love fully scaled cockpits, weathering, scale landing gear, accurate paint colors, etc....

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

I agree to fly the plane again. Time to experiment with some of these concepts. Sounds like you still need to fly the plane a little slower if possible. That could help a lot with whatever caused...

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

I have a DX 8 with telemetry that works great on my "simpler" airplanes and HexaCopter. If you ever change transmitter boxes in the future you'll want to add voltage telemetry, especially since you...

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

Great job on the LVC challenge. I've lost two big planes to LVC.
Running the lipos at next to full throttle is definitely a problem. Generally, 15 seconds of full throttle is recommended, then...

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

Yes, 20x10 two bladed on front and back. No flaps on take-off. Full flaps on landing. My Sierra brakes are set-up on the elevator. During roll-out I gently push forward on the stick and the...

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

I wasn't trying to be so literal. I was trying to assure him that he'll be fine. At 35 pounds, my plane gets airborne in about 225 feet. kahloq's plane will have a nice scale take-off at 37 pounds.

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

You should be fine on the take-off. Mine jumps into the air. Landing will be more the challenge. You'll need to keep that power up...when it drops...it drops...

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

Correct. Don't rush.

I bought the expensive Sierra retracts and during taxi trials one of the wheels kept locking up. I scratched my head on consecutive Saturdays trying to figure out the...

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

How about killing the rear motor and popping a parachute? That's cheap.[>:]
I have a 17 pound Bobcat with an EDF motor. If my roll-out is going long ...I just retract the landing gear....stops...

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

Good choice to sort things out before flying.
800 feet should be fine, but brakes are nice to have. :D

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

No one will give you crap for forgetting...only for not RE-BALANCING with the lipos in place.

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

Oh shoot...one more thing I forgot to mention. You might need some extra cooling.
I put a couple of holes in the firewall to force some air into the lipo battery area. It worked like a charm. ...

Small world...I have the Vicrc one as well. It was great for building, painting, assembling, and balancing my Do335 and other big planes. Love the versatility.

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

Bummer on the weight. I was hoping yours would be lighter than mine. Obviously you'll need full flaps, lots of speed, and a long grass runway. We landed mine on a 400 foot astroturf runway, but...

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

I run the same engine and prop on front and back. Plane flys great. Eflite 160s with Xoar 20-10 tractor and pusher prop. By the way, it took me months to get the pusher...very rare. I think it...

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

As soon as the tape wears through. Maybe once in 50 flights.
