Actually the 1.25 has always had the new case, the 1.25a has a new cylinder with a wider included valve angle and larger valves plus larger cooling fins. Some say that was done to give the gas version an edge. I don't really know. I will make a velocity stack for it.
That is interesting do all the new engines have the wider value angle and bigger valves. I have a saito 100 and 82 in the new case. It sounds like they will have more power for my astro hog

The revised castings are probably the result of the FG series of gas engines.
The FA-180B cylinder has much larger cooling fins & beefier material in the port areas to dissipate the additional heat from gasoline operation when employed on the FG-30. Saito just eliminated the old glow cylinders. It would't make economic sense to continue to make 2 different castings. The new cylinders will interchange with all of the previous series valve train parts & crankcases.
The valve angle does appear to be different. It will be interesting to see if it oimproves piston/valve clearance in engines that are modified for increased compression.

no go prop? I dont use MA props!!! Only APC on my Saitos! I wanted to bench the Mustang yesterday, but it was too humid for my likings. When it gets humid, those damned squitos wont leave me alone, and for some reason, no matter WHERE I put my run up bench, they find me.

They both employ the FA-180 piston. The cylinder has smaller FA-150 valves in the gas engine but I would bet that it is the same casting as the FA-180 so the combustion chamber volume should be similar.
There might be a slight increase in the combustion chamber volume due to the smaller valve heads in the gas engine, but not enough to make a significant difference.

Extreme humidity will reduce the RPM, especially if it is accompanied by hot ambient temperatures and/or low barometric pressure.

Re-assembling the 1.00, I used Dan's rubber band method to hold TDC, the pushrod tubes and seals are coming today by USPS in a couple of hours. New Boca Bearings and the new cam are in
Use castor and stand behind in the prop blast. The squitos don't like either. Also, Listerene mouthwash sprayed around keeps them away. they don't like menthol or eucalyptus. Works for me. Good luck

I found a mosquito spray made from garlic oil you mix with water and a teaspoon of soap and spray on the trees, bushes, and yard works really good. You only smell it until it dries and it lasts until the next rain shower or 6 weeks. Works real good and it doesn't kill the good bugs.

The 1.00 is finished, it looks almost new, while comparing it to the new 1.25 I discovered the 1.00 had a crankcase vent with a much larger hole than the 1.25. Looking at other Saitos I found that the 1.00 vent had been drilled out or switched. It now has the correct vent. The muffler I put on it is larger than the rest of the 12mm mufflers I have so I hope it's the correct one. We have a huge Smoke Tree in front of our front door, skeeters come out of there in a cloud. anti skeeter stuff is a must.
I'll test the 1.00 with a Xoar 14x7 and 15x6.

I found the 100 works really good with an Evolution 15x6 on the Cub. Not too fast at half throttle, just the right sound and scale like speeds, but open up to WOT and it tears a hole in the sky. A 14x6 APC gets the Cub off the ground into a pure vertical like an F-15 in 10 feet. I really like my 100, have to replace the bearings in the other one, have Boca sitting on the bench ready to be installed.
Thanks for all that information guys. By the way mosquitoes don't like cold weather so I usually wait till it's below 60° before I do my real Flying and Then I don't have to waste money on all that Skeeter repellent.
You guys crack me up and dave stop being so seriousof course a 14x6 is to small for a 1.00 my 82 will max a no go 14x6 prop out easy but hey...put that same prop on a 125 and watch it bog down

In my humble opinion, yes.
I just broke in the rebuilt 1.00, I did my usual:
10 minutes @ 4,000 rpm throttle about 1/4 open
10 minutes @ 5,000
10 Minutes @ 6,000
10 Minutes @ 7,000
10 Minutes @ 7,500 with short and then longer periods at full throttle.
Fuel Wildcat 10%/18% full synthetic
Plug===Fox Miracle and old well used one
Prop===Xoar 15x6 for all the above
Max rpm-8,900 rpm
Idle==1,835
Switched to Xoar 14x7, maybe some of you can explain this
Max rpm==9,790
Idle RPM=1,885
Exhaust==stock Saito cast muffler
I did not expect the 14x7 to turn faster than the 15x6, acceleration was wicked quick with the 14x7. I'm happy even though I spent about 65% of the cost of a new 1.00. The engine is still spotlessly clean after the approximately one hour and 15 minute run.
Pete, I may get to the 1.25a tomorrow.
