hey guy's I finally pulled the trigger , and bought the Saito 40 for my Sig LT-25 project and settled on the Saito FA62b for the Sig Mid-Star project, I think those combos are going to work fine. I do need a little advice though, I think I am going to buy the wildcat premium extra 15% nitro,18%oil will that be ok ? P.S. SURE HOPE I DIDN'T OPEN UP A PANDORAS BOX WITH THE FUEL QUESTION!

Well i use what ever i have on hand at the time. Right now have bought some 30% nitro with 22% oil helicopter fuel and bleeding that with 15% nitro and 16% oil to get roughly 22.35% nitro and 18% oil. And all of it is straight synthetic.

But that aside wild cat or morgen fuel works great 15% nitro and 18% oil is a great four stroke fuel.

No better fuel than Wildcat but I use their 2/4 10 % with 18% full synthetic.

Your not even close scuppered be a bit up front and tell people about how your pet dog took a dump on a 125(had'nt even been run yet)to create a bit of angst and a lot of answers to your question.... now if you were to ask about good old boy nitro and castor mix for your saito,as apposed to that no smell wimpy synthetic oil we used to call a "claytons beer" as in non alcoholic i think you'll get my drift...wildcat synthetic is a real brand over there ??

yes thay have wildcat and red max. I guess its to make you feel better about what your lacking.
All my fuel is straight up synthetic because I'm a wimp. And don't like to clean my plane,s.


And to talk about engines get the business from a bog i took my small block ford engine in to get it punched out and the shop dog walked by all the small block chevy blocks and peed on mine.

Wildcat 15 is what I use in mine, and they run great on it, they don't like 2 stroke with castor though, run like crap, probably why OF doesn't like a 125, he runs too much castor through it.

I don't seem to have any problems using my 10% fuel but wonder if the 15% might not be better for an inverted Saito???

Unless you fly a lot and pay close attention to performance the difference between 10 and 15% is minuscule.
I have heard of guys running up to 35%. But that can get expensive. And most i have run is 20% and tell you the truth i didn't notice that much more performance.
So how is that for tapping on the can.

You notice it most with 2 strokes, but not 4 strokes. Radials run best with no nitro or 5% at the most.

If I remember correctly the large displacement Super Tigres like the 3200 etc. also preferred no or very little Nitro to run properly.

i had an OPS maxie 30 it didn't like nitro at all. And my 1.8 and 2.1 moki's don't need much either.

In spite of my natural tightfisted nature, I broke down an ordered a real engine stand. I resisted the cheap route of purchasing a Tatone for the here and now and bought one of these. It comes with the same block off it's little brother so it can handle anything from a .020 up to 150 cc maybe even a 200cc and any radial I so choose provided the feds don't nab me for bank robbery so I can pay for it. It should arrive at the LHS I had it shipped to (to avoid embarrassing questions from SWMBO) today or tomorrow. Anyone seen one of these or used one? It came highly recommended and is made and sold by Ron Sexton over in Louisiana.

Honestly this is a true story. Happened in Hawaii. They had paved a new Interstate but not opened it yet. These 2 Huey pilots (UH-1H) grew bored and discovered a ravine to fly up and hop onto the Interstate quickly. They memorized the turns, overpasses, etc in the day and started flying it as fast as they could at night.....only blacked out. No lights. The highway opened these guys were having a blast racing past cars like a ghost, only they were also getting picked up on police radar at the speed traps too. They had an exit ravine they hit full speed to fly away as the blue lights lit up a mile or so up ahead.The cops almost went crazy trying to figure out what was going on and these guys were peeing in their flight suits laughing. It was even in the local newspaper about the police saying the Interstate was haunted. Typical ending of the story- one of them had a few too many at the O Club one night and told some buddies about their little game and it got to the old man who decided to take official action against the guys.

I believe you.Huey pilots were not shy back then and liked doing low level passes over unsuspecting base personal scaring the beejezuz out of us.That's when we planned our revenge to be had after hours in the wet mess.For 30c you could buy a large jug of beer and for five bucks you could get the bravest huey pilot fairly drunk all we did was stay on the ground whereas these guys had it a bit harder next morning.

I have ASP in 91 and 108. neither will run well with more than 5%, 0% is even better. Back then the fix was add a head shim to reduce compression so that higher nitro could be used. i could not find the needed shims, so i mixed my own 0% and ran them.

My question is what is the balance point between reducing compression, and performance, to be able to use higher nitro (and fuel cost) to increase performance? I have asked this before with no one answering. Thanks
