All this talk about the 100 and 115 is interesting. We've been talking about that spot since the 82 came out. I think Saito may be making a few marketing mistakes, but who knows. I'm not the one to count their pennies at night,

Which has more power and which type of plane would perform better. A Saito 120 and a OS Gemini 120 II? While the Gemini would not work in a Mustang, it may work well in a Corsair. My original thought was a 20CC gas, which I have, but it's a Warbird, and Warbirds don't go EEEEEHHHHpopopoeeeehhhh, they have a deep rumble.

I'm there too, I have a VQ 60 size P-40 (62" span), and I also have a Zenoah g20 (it's a BH Hanson modified Heli engine, it's never been started), people have told me to put it in my P-40, well to do that I would have to cut a hole in the side of it's Cowl for a muffler, even if it was a Pitts muffler I would have to cut a hole on it's side, and another hole on the other side for the Carb, "not going to do it !", I would not mind a 2 stroke, but the big glow 90s drink more fuel and are loud, Gassers are heavy, so I wait for the Saito 125 to go on sale, but I am now wondering if Saito's prices are going to go up ??? that would be just my luck.

as for the 115 being dropped, I have been wondering IF something new is coming ?? to add, the pickings on Horizon's Saito page are get low, so here too I'm wondering if something new is coming

I think both engines are great engines, yet I would think the Saito 120 (single cylinder) would be a bit more powerful, and swing a bit larger prop,, but you would not put an opposed twin in a Mustang,, so put the twin in a Corsair.

I'd go for the saito fa120 too.By the time you get fifteen gallons of fuel through the saito 125 so it's run in and then tune it on the bench the balsa kit will have rotted away.

Thank you barry it's a pleasure doing those jobs.When it's finished i'll post a photo tho i'm not keen on what the owner has designed re finishing colours.

ps dave alls well that ends well,we should have a group discussion about the relative merits of the closely grouped saito 100/115...cough ah 125 it's all good fun,i can take a teasing as well as the rest but watch out for sr...you could end up looking like a brown house mouse compared to his enraged next door neighbours feral cat.As for those awful awful harleys i like the ducati big v twin sound better PLUS! i've seen the harley motorcycle racing teams pit girls eeeeek and here's what the ducati girls look like...

It's an OS part jim and bound to cause bad luck and corrosion to any saito engine it touches.

Flown very nicely off a bumpy airstrip don't you think? and should be throttled back to scale speed.Almost makes you think a saito 82 would do the job.

Fly, the earliest Saito .80 had 15.5 to 1 compression and demands respect, it will kick the prop off if it even thinks you'resetting it lean. When leaning the HS needle, sneak up on the peak as in one click, pause, one more and pause. At some point one of the clicks will slow it a little, that's as far as you dare go.

in that video he had an APC 14x8 on it, I'm betting he was burning 30% Nitro,, so, if a 100 single would fly my P-40 at those speeds on 20% with an APC 14x8 I would be happy big time, I like the "big air" stuff

I just snatched a NIB Saito .56 for under 200 bucks, I love .56's so now I have two. This one is a late white box model with a G on the right lug. I'll report soon. All tools and instructions included.

Just got my 56 all buttoned up in the T-clips and ready to re-maiden it. What would be the best prop for it in the T-Clips? Right now I have a 12x8 Top Flight wood prop for it.

The whistle on that mk9 spit is hard to hear i like the sound of the 100t to much.Reminds me of an elderly club member who had a whistle stuck with velcro to an undercarriage leg on saito powered high wing tailwheel trainer.Said he was tone deaf in the lower sound register(standing next to to many harleys?)so had a hard time hearing his saito in flight and that's why he put the whistle on it.Every flight looked like a test flight and unexpected low dives over the strip made that whistle scream.When he was'nt looking in the pits i used to stick a small bit of chewing gum on the front to quieten it down but he sprung me so then i unstuck the whistle and changed the angle of attack slightly but he cottoned on to that too.Hav'nt seen the old coot for years,club lore has it that a few member got together and killed him.

I guess Saito did that with the 1.30 in the making of the 1.82, two .91 cylinders and ended up with a slightly lighter engine by .7 oz, it's not much not but still a positive.

I have a early Saito .80 in an Ace Skydancer 60, 72" WS. No way I'd fly it that lean. It needs to be backed off at least 200 RPM from peak, maybe more.

Sorry Charley, I didn't mean to leave the impression that I'd fly it there, but like mentioned above I use about 150 rich to fly. That's plenty, no sense hosing down the weeds with fuel that isn't accomplishing anything. When using a regulator,I only use about 50 rpm rich.

Oh well, a little unburned fuel helps cool the engine.
