Saito 1.50 with 11.24 to 1 compression
Prop=== MA Maple 18 x 6
Exhaust===new revised cast muffler
Fuel===Wildcat 10% with 18% full syn.
CH Ignition set at 30 degrees BTDC
Max rpm at full throttle==7,200
Idle 1,900, throttle arm hit engine and that was that.
Today I ran the 1.50 with a Graupner G-Sonic 16x8, it's a while different ball game.
Max rpm===9,250
Idle 1,800.

Good news. Ordered a Saito 182 yesterday from Horizon. Just delivered at noon today. Maybe pics tonight!
Should sound great on 14% nitromethane / 14% oil (2% castor, of course). With a pair of Enya glow plugs providing the ignition.

Hi jesse yes i remember it as you do re the bikes,rode a rocket three quite a lot back then loved the ray gun mufflers and the sound they made.Also my 650 lightning.I think we should have a saito engined aeroplane scale contest here with some pics.I'll start the bidding with this effort,it's a pic of my edge 540v3 after i accidently locked the next door neighbours pidgeon in the shed overnight.

The hole diameter in the 16 x 8 is a tight 10mm, I knocked the Tee handle out of this reamer and it cleaned it up perfectly by placing the reamer in my drill press in low speed..

Dave have you had a rattle can of paint out and painted up an apc prop then re stickered it
looks alright for a graupner,i hate those old hard boiled grey one's.Jesse as a kid i hung around the local airfield pulling planes out of the hanger to wash them and then over to the flight line.All the hangers had birds in them and washing poop off was normal.If the bird had been sitting on the plane then it was a small area to clean,if the bird was up in the hanger rafters the poop circle could be huge.Every now and again one of the pilots would take me for a ride,even let me fly a bit so long as we wer'nt close to anything.
ps i still think natural pidgeon poo is the ultimate in realistic scale detailing

Satio 80 fuel issue
I have a satio four stroke 80. The engine starts up no problem. After startup and while it is running fuel constantly comes
out of the exhaust more than usual. I adjust the mixture but that doesn’t help. It a lot more fuel than exhaust coming out.
any ideas? Thanks

What fuel, what prop, what glow plug, give us everything that would effect the the way it runs, How many turns out from closed is the HS needle, it should be less than two turns. Thanks

Initial setting is with the metal throttle arm is even with the throttle arm face, if plastic about 1/16" below the face. It's easiest to peak the HS needle and leave it peaked while you set the LS needle. You can see that this 1980s .80 is well down inside the barrel.

Thanks Hobbsy! I have an old second hand.80 I need to get going. I'm running 10% Nitro Blended oil fuel I don't mind a little clean up. I like a little castor in my fuel for a little added protection and 10% seems to work good for my 2 and 4 cycle engines. If I ever get around to building something for my ST S3000 I'll probably start stocking some 0% or 5% Nitro fuel in addition to the 10%. Those big Super Tigres do't seem to like much Nitro.

Somebody mentioned prop reamers It has been very difficult to find quality prop reamers from the hobby industry lately. I have been using precision ground industrial machine reamers as a basis for prop reamers. OD grind a suitable pilot then resharpen the cutting edges.
Make them up as needed but these three get the most use by far.

I use an old tried and tapered tubing reamer. Its older than me and still sharp. I start from the back side of the hub and ream and test and ream and test util I get a tight fit. It has never failed me.

I used those very early on. I do prefer at least 1/3 of the hub bore to make a close parallel fit with the shaft.
The piloted reamer also tends by nature to more closely follow the original bore.
