I'm running an fa82 mounted the same way in my Sbach. Do you have a pic of the new vent location? What did you plug the original vent hole with?

Here you go. I plugged the OEM vent with a setscrew plug, secured with SWAK® Teflon, anaerobic sealant. I tried to send a PM response to your question this morning but the site usually seems to have CRS when I hit the send button! Will try again, less static that way

Saito 30 rear bearing

And even though I don't have one a 115 rear bearing. I think it is safe to say most are open.
hey guys, after looking at those bearings, I was wondering about the Ball Retainers, but I do not have bearings here to look at, so my question is, are these Bell Retainers open on one side, because if the are I am wondering if there is a right and wrong way to install them ?? meaning if the Retainers are open on one side maybe that could keep oil from getting to the front of the engine if the bearing is installed wrong

just a thought, cause crazy things do happen in this hobby

Gary, go ahead and send the one way valves, thank you !!! but only send them if you have 10 more than you need
if you need my address please let me know.

what I had thought I would do, is, use long tubing on the rear vent with a Fuel Dot mounted on the top-right of the cowl, and use that to add after run oil, I can still do that with a oneway vale by putting a T or Y fitting between the oneway valve and back plate.slick man, just slick

Gary, about the site, and PM problems.

I received an RCU Email notification the other day about a thread I replied to on the Glow Engine page over a year ago, the thing is the Email said that "the Pope" had replied last, well I was thinking "what, the Pope ??", when I opened the thread from the Email link the last reply was from Pete (Rudolph Hart), not the Pope.. at that I remembered I had RCU Email notifications before that were incorrect, so I opened a new tab, opened RCU again, and I looked for that thread on the Glow Engine page, and guess, the thread was not there !! so I did not reply,
I did't report this to RCU because when I do report things RCU NEVER reply to me.

yes sir the site is screwed up,, RCU should give Mark Ryder a job to fix it! Mark owned and built the RunRyder Heli forum, and it was extremely well set up, and widely updated.

I forgot to reply, the thing is, as long as there is oil getting by the rear bearing there should be good oiling because those 2 gears should be throwing (a whole bunch of) oil around,

my thoughts here and now, are, maybe Saito should add a tiny oil gallery leading to the center of the crank shaft to push oil to the front ??

hold on, got to get a 2nd photo to edit it here..

here, see the crank, put an oil gallery deeper in the center of the crank to get oil around the rear bearing to the front gears.

OK, I think I've vented enough about vents, everybody is doing what they think is right. And that is right.

I ordered a couple of sets of Saito gaskets from the new source and I got the shipped E-mail less than 10 minutes after I got the PayPal receipt. Amazing:

yes but,
A) all those names changed month and months before that post in my Email was started,
B) no one has replied to that post since "12-08-2018"
C) I got the Email just 2 days ago,
D) no one else that replied to that post has received the same Email

so why is it no one else received that Email, and why did I receive that Email over 3 months after the last reply ?

Jim

Ok so a couple years back I put together a 56 from a box of parts.
But the darn thing would only rev about half throttle.
So what’s wrong I say different tank? Carb not right?
After trying a few things and scratching my head it hit me like a ton of bricks. At the time i was also rebuilding a 45 for a friend. So when I ran the 45 it ran great, better then any other 45 I have run. So I sent it back and he said wow that runs great.
And my 56 runs at half throttle. So tonight I put the cam that belongs in the 56 not the cam from the 45. Lol no wonder ha. MIT also helped when y’all have been talking about cams.

Can you see the difference?

Well jiminy crickets i've got a question for you.How do YOU know you were the only one to get that email? if you can answer that we'll all know what really happened in the mysterious disappearing act Lord Lucan pulled,no,look it up yourself.I too received that email and it shook me to my boots thinking 'the pope' must have had an epiphany of some kind and would now be kind and courteous to all,he was good fun and still looks in here so i'm told.

ps fa115 has open rear main bearing

well none taken I did get the idle done to 2000 but it’s hard to have a consistent idle with the hand held throttle linkage and I have thought about hooking up a server and a radio maybe next time the peak well it’s still cold maybe the air is still to thick.

Mike, I think my ACE Tachmaster II is reading 400+ rpm slow. I got a new tach and am going to check that out today. I also got two APC 12 x 6's and one is actually perfectly balanced right out of the package. When you spin it it turns a few revolutions then stops and remains where ever it stops.

Have to say, that is one thing I like about APC, they are pretty much spot on out of the package. I rarely have to do anything to balance them, usually just busting down the sharp edge is enough.

Every new apc prop I've bought has been perfectly balanced right out of the box, both blade and hub. The problem with balance comes from human intervention ie reaming slightly off center. I got one reamed so far off center that I had to sand a huge flat spot on one side of the hub to bring it back in. I pay more attention to how I ream them now.
