Boca SS bearings
Contacted Boca yesterday and the guy I spoke to had no problem replacing the SS bearings that quickly went south in my FA62. In fact he said that SS bearings are were not his favorite choice and is sending me HP hard chrome bearings as a replacement. Kudos to Boca for their excellent CS.

Bruce did the weather clear up so you could run one of your new fg30's for the b25 yet? if so what prop did you choose for the run in.
It's our easter holiday long weekend here from friday to monday so had an fa82 lined up for some serious flying tomorrow (friday) but the weatherman says huge sea swells high winds and bucketing down,i thought what? like last sunday when you said possible light showers and i got my riding boots filled all day,flight packs are still on the charger.

Dave, didn't you say you replaced the crank case on my 82 with the newer case ?? can you tell me what the difference is, I am wondering if it has the same mounting footprint as the 72 ??

I have the Saito 50 rigged up with an ancient Graupner Grey Super Nylon 12 x 6 and a Davis In Cowl muffler. I need to go back and do the APC again.

Dave, I looked at the mounting tab on the 82, it has a B on it ?? so whats the difference in the older ones and the newer ones, just wondering, cause I got to know if I am going to be a true Saito Freak LOL

Saito 82-B
Saito 82-A, the B on the lug would indicate a 3rd series, no initial would be 1st series, A would be 2nd series and B the 3rd series. I don't know if those series equate to different years or just production runs. It should be pretty strong. There is no difference in performance, just a stiffer cam box.

Jim, the 82b has the lower profile cam gear housing as Dave mentioned and also has that black "fa82" label with gold letters as shown in his pic. The 82a has the taller cam gear housing and "fa82" cast into the case. The early 82a had a flimsy plastic rear cover which was upgraded to a stronger plastic rear cover. The 82b was always shipped with an aluminum rear cover.
Other than the case and cam box all other parts are interchangeable.

The aluminum rear cover is a good upgrade.

Just received another Saito 100 needs a complete overhaul. Should be exciting I have another 100 I will be sending out soon for someone to experiment with.
This one I think I will try a cool paint scheme. Thinking Kawasaki green with golden value covers.

as is, accordingly to horizon, the 82 with muffler and the 72 with muffler weight the same, both with plastic back plate

I bought this plane a couple years ago and I can’t remember who made it. It’s started with a DLE 40 twin. Traded that engine for a a Waco or something like that. Then I put A Saito 180 HC in with CH ignition and then my friend in Texas need a engine for a arrow coupe so I sent that engine to him. So now I have put together another 180HC and have ignition on order. I hope to put that in. And maybe I will get this Giles in the air yet.
