I have the same Top Flite P-51D in storage the 115 would work well in it. I was leaning toward increasing the engine size in my Ryan SC-W project. I had originally planned on using a 91 but the 115 would give it a bit of a boost. It won't be a light airplane so the extra power would offset some of te drag in the 1930s design.

I have the same TF 51 Gold Edition ARF, flies excellent with an FG21. Originally flew it with the 115 and it was plenty of power for that airframe as well. The FG21 and FA-115 are actually very close in power output.

Jim, what are you talking about on page 18? I must be a little dense.

Crunchy, if Mike decides to keep his 115 you can have mine. I have no plans to use it now that I'm using FG's in all my 60 size planes. New bearings, camgear, tappets and all cleaned up. Runs flawless and looks super nice. PM if interested.

Saito 115, what plane.
we have a guy in my club that had a 60 size TF Mustang and he flew it pretty well with an OS 65ax,

here are a couple the 115 would work well in,,,
https://www.towerhobbies.com/product.../PMMA1600.html

https://www.towerhobbies.com/product.../PMMA1635.html

https://www.towerhobbies.com/product...4/HAN5010.html

https://www.towerhobbies.com/product.../PMMA0580.html

a Saito note; guys, if you are interested, I just noticed that my FA100's muffler is marked "91s 100", the number 100 is right underneath the 91s

Cap, the 115 I have is actually yours if you'd like. Having two 100's and a 125, I'm good on engines in that range.

Well, there's no shortage of 115's around here, huh? Funny though, they very rarely come up for sale in the classifieds.

The funny thing is I had been dreaming of a FA-100 when this 115 showed up. I wouldn't have bothered to look at the posting if you guys hadn't tipped me off about it being a mismarked FA-115. I only had the cash because I had sold a TF Sea Fury kit I decided I would never build. I wanted the cash to pay for building supplies on the 3 Ryans. So it was one of those the stars all aligned type of deals.
Dave how long would it take to get the bearings replaced? I am thinking having one of you Saito experts swap the bearings and give it a good looking over would be cheap insurance. You could even run it and post some numbers for all to see if you were of a mind. I will be happy to cover all costs. I want to insure the engine has a long life going forward. Send me a PM if you will sir.

Cap I recommend you take one of the offers I have decided to keep the 115 and have the bearings swapped. I plan on polishing the muffler up tonight. I think she will be perfect for my Ryan SC-W project. I am thinking of going inverted or at an angle and running the exhaust out the bottom. She is just too nice an engine let go. I suspect a common sentiment felt by a lot of FA-115 owners. How many versions of the FA-115 did Saito make?

I suspect the bearings and the gaskets can beat the engine here. I'm pretty sure I can do it in a day or two.

Only one version that I'm aware of. With Dave's golden touch it'll run like a sewing machine.

Fair riding weather has returned to here. He's probably increasing his carbon footprint toolin round before we are reduced to the hum of windings motors, battery chargers, power plants on every other corner and no mo di-no go.. Of just busy flying. I miss him too. Nobody calls me out for near off topic blathering like my buddy Gary 😁

I have called his, Gary's, cell several times lately and no answer. I already have the bearings and gaskets for the 115 compliments of Gary. They were in a box of "goodies" he sent to me for my lathe. I also have new cams if needed. All wrapped in oiled wax like paper.

I still don't get it Jim, you sure the mistake isn't a mirage like the blond? All I see is a bunch of kit boxes Tritle laid out with a can of Testors spray paint.

Wish i could join in the mystery game, too lazy to create an account on AMA and missed the June edition of Modeller due to a short lapse in enrollment.

Jim, give it up man, would save us all a crapload of time and brain pain.

More important things: I haven't watched Avatar for 6 years, maybe I'll plug that into the BR player and have a watch. Always liked that movie.

Jim, did you get the pipe finished and mounted?

it is for my ShoeString 60, the thing is the stock 60 cowl is all messed up, but I found a new 40 size cowl that I am making fit, so a 60 size muffler will NOT fit the 40 cowl without a tremendous amount of cutting. so I made this one up, it came out great, I just need to polish it, today I worked a while on fitting the cowl and marking it to cut

Jim
ps, sorry it's not a 4st LOL
