I finally received the Shoestring. Ice storms kept the UPS drivers off the roads for 4 days here. I have the FA115 for it too, but no time to assemble it. Besides, I have 10 other Saito powered planes to fly on the rare occasions I can get away to do such things, cherishing every moment.

Here is a Saito hybrid. Sig Kadet Sr bashed into an LT-40 lookalike. Decreased dihedral and big ailerons. This was my last two stroke powered plane. Took the pic with the OS 61fitted, went right to the bench and installed an OS FS-91 Surpass.

My first post in here since my shop burned down last July.

We had 4 days of below freezing temperatures with ice rain and sleet. I can tell you Texans don’t know how to drive in bad weather. There is a saying here if you don’t like the weather just wait a day, it should hit 70 degrees here today. This is good news because no work got done on my new shop building last week so I’m hoping it starts back up this week.

Did you get hit by any of the power outages down there? I hear there are still areas without electricity down there. Local utility has been working like a madman upgrading transmission lines up here. How much longer do you figure it will take to finish the new shop?

The power stayed on here. I know Lonnie had power out for a while. The new shop will be about April when complete. Then I get to go on a tool buying spree that should take a couple more months. I hope to get back to building airplanes next winter.

The biggest change is that I am separating the Ham Radio room from the balsa building room. Balsa dust gets everywhere and I was always cleaning balsa dust off of and out of electronics equipment. The Ham Radio room will have a full bathroom and laundry area. Also, kitchen cabinets with a sink. The thought is if I ever leave here, it could be converted into an apartment. The old shop was heated with a vented wall heater and I used a mini split for the AC. The new shop will have a furnace with central AC. When I go to put up my ham radio tower it will be 10 feet shorter. I’m getting too old to climb 80 feet of commercial tower. The old shop was a full 2 stories and the new shop will be a story and a half. So I will have room above for storage.

I’m just happy to still be here. The shop that caught on fire was 20 feet from the house and I was sleeping when the fire started. Things could have been a lot worse if it wasn’t for the alarm system that woke me up that night.

Up there Jim, you have July and winter. I have about 2/3's of the RH-80 left wing built. Again everything is lining up every time.

My sister is over near Pigeon Forge TN. Right on the French Broad River about eight miles downstream from Douglas Dam. Looks like they may get a bit too.

Me, seven years ago holding great granddaughter Brooklyn and studying for a Christmas play. At that time one of the planes I flew was this Kombat 60 powered by a LASER 70. I had a second one, (red) powered by a Saito 80 and a US Aircore Knight Hawk powered by a Saito 50. Brooklynn now lives in Marshfield, Ma. with her paternal grand parents. I still have the ACE Micro Pro 8000.

BTW, I have a new granddaughter coming next month. I have nicknames for my daughter's 2 girls. so I need a nick name for the new one coming. I told my Daughter-inlaw and Son that I am going to call her "Jim"! LOL they laughed.

Jim, I had an aunt, Jimmy, her real name was Emma, almost no one new her real name. When in her teens, she could hit a baseball farther than most of the boys. I was blessed to have her as my aunt. Her husband was my mothers older brother, Uncle Frank, he was a near genius as a mechanic. He would have loved hearing me talk about, "workin" on Saitos.
