With that muffler style it must be a .49, I had a .25 a couple of years ago, it had a brass or bronze muffler.

A .49 it is, Weighs in like a Saito FA-125, at least feels that way!

I haven't heard the 49VT or 25VT run but the smaller 21VT is whisper quite 100 ft away. The OS 20FS is much louder.

We would have never know it was 20 years old if you haven't told us. She looks great!

Yeah, that's a beauty, Gary. Cowl mounted with a cowl ring?

Cowl is glued in place. Never thought the plane would last that long!

Is it really clean enough to sit on those electronics?

More shameless shop photos. I love it!

On one hand I'd never sit a glow plane on one of those beautiful radios, on the other hand I've never seen seen one of Gary's planes in any condition other than immaculate.

This SR 40 will have them exclusively.
https://www.dubro.com/products/socke...ounting-screws

I recently ordered two packages of these Dubro servo mounting screws, they have separate washer rather than a phlanged screw head. I don't know if this is an advantage or not but they work well. The washer will not come off.

Those beauties were built about 20 miles north of here (The full-size Chris-Craft). Very popular on the big lakes around here. My Dad had one when I was about 14. It was built in 1956, beautiful, double plank hull with flying bridge. Had a pair of 310 cubic inch Hercules "JXD" inline six cylinder engines. Sounded awesome .

Okie, you buy that Saito for your plane. I'll build you the radiator and water pump.

Too late he sold it! If I had that kind of money I would buy a twin anyway.

Due to the rarity of that FA-30W I think he sold it for less than half of what it was worth to the right collector. Patience is a virtue.

The fellow I size up as the right collector will usually get deeply discounted price. I will gladly take less to get something into the right hands.

If it comes to hobbies; When something leaves here, money matters are well down the priorities list.
Yes, that fellow left some money on the table.

at one point of time, it must have been the world's most dangerous plane.

Nice job on the smoke mod. That old girl looks to have quite a bit of flight time on her.

Those two engine misses: Check your spark plug, cap and CDI wiring? Could be a hall sensor going bad?
