If you are getting good results with Wildcat, I would not change?

I agree with w8ye, if it works, don't fix it. I use Powermaster 20/20 in my Saitos and they run fine. I UNDERSTAND THAT A LOT OF GUYS USE 30% HELI FUEL BECAUSE IT GIVES MORE POWER AND LUBRICATION, AND IT ALSO SMOKES GIVING A NICE STREAM.

I was asking cause that's all I've used and was just curious if I was "missing out" on a "Holy Grail" as far as the power from the fuel. I am very pleased with the 150 that I put in my Ultimate... just was wanting to be sure I was "treating it right"

The higher nitro does not cause them to get hot as long as you have the mixture set correctly.

Fuel economy suffers and so does your pocket book.

But they make more power

i run 20/20 with some castro mixed in it . i have some cool power 15 and 20 for other motors . i found out the hard way with cars and truckes that switching fule brands and % of nitro will make the tune off ajusting the carb will be needed. how ever i have only used 1 type fule in the satio's.i would think it needs to be retuned if % of nitro is changed. the evolution 46 and 36 i have need tuneing after fule % is changed .i have thought about running the 30 % but it is more money . if you going to switch fules make sure the oil content is the right amount... i finished up the tango its ready to fly my poor turcks clutch let go and putt a kink in my cash flow im thinking about tossing out the 1100mah nicd batt and going with a 2100mah nimh. the CG came out right in the middle it has a 1 inch CG is called for lol right down the middle it was so im holding the battrie thinking were am i going to putt it at

Is Cool Power 30% all synthetic, and if it is, do you need to put some Castor in it??????????????????

Cool Power 30 Heli is 22% synthetic. Seems to do pretty well on it's on. Most people do not add cstor to the Cool Power 30 Heli.

The has been some confusion created in recent times by Morgan in that they have started making "Four Stroke Cool Power" Fuel that has some castor oil. These are labeled with a little sticker that labels them as such and they clearly tell that they have some castor oil.

Regular Cool Power has no castor.

I've just finished reading through this thread (whew!) after being away for the better part of a year, and, as usual, there was lots of great info, and unfurtunately, some really bad news. I finally got back to putting my GP super stearman together ( a beauty!) and I have my Saito 1.80 mounted and she's almost ready to fly. I have 2 questions. First, the spinner that came with the kit would not go on with the spinner jam nut I bought. The spinner nut is 7/8" to 1" long, and it's too long for the spinner to seat against the backplate. I would have cut it down, but it would need to be cut so much that there wouldn't be any threads left for the screw that holds the cone on. I need a spinner adapter that is 1/2" to 5/8" long, max. I've also looked at the Tru-Turn AT-6 spinner for this, but don't know if I would have the same problem.
My second question is about prop balancing. i have a GP(?) prop balancer that i've used fairly successfully, but I see many of you saying to balance the spinner and the prop together. How would I do that. The balancer has 2 cones to lock the prop onto the shaft...how do you mount the spinner and prop without the whole thing just flopping around? One last thing. I have an APC 17" prop that I tried to balance, and it did balance horizontally, but it seems the hub is way out of balance or something because the same side of the hub is always on the bottom...to the point where if I flip it 180 degrees, it will flip back and settle horizontally again. Is this thing just junk, or it there a way to get it to balance. There's no way its going on my plane like this.

It's black friday and my wife is out shopping. I had to post this. After reading about using antifreeze in a crock pot to clean our Saito engines and mufflers, I thought it would be cool to try, but I couldn't see spending good money for a crock pot that I won't be able to use for food. I figured I would try to get one at a yard sale and hope it works. No more! Walmart has a 2 qt crock pot on sale for... $3.98! Now I'll have my own crock pot to do with what i will.

i have contacted Tru Turn several times in the past. tell them what aircraft, engine and prop, they will tell you exactly what parts you need. call or send an email. they will get you the info you need same day.
the tru turn spinners are machined very well, no balancing should be necessary. i had to send one in to be trimmed to fit a apc 16.5x5, they do it precisely. just never cut it yourself, that will throw it out of balance.

You can actually use either pump but most people use the vibration powered model.

If you need to know how to hook up the pressure impulse model, get back on here and one of use will tell you how to hook it up.

Here's a bigger picture
http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...dID=SAI220A150

This backplate has an inlet and an outlet check valve mounted in the back plate. The inlet valve has a filter screen,

The fuel pump device is a set of needle valves in a tee arrangement to modulate the pressure to the tank.

hmmm...
seems weird, how the heck does a needle valve to a good job on regulating pressure.
you need a regulator before the carb and after the tank.
how many guys are running this kit?
sounds like alot of needleing to me... am i right?

The Saito pressurizing system is a PIA to use. It is best to also get a regulator like the Iron Bay or Cline

I had that set up on my 2.20 with the large carb, as Jim said it was pain. The large carb and Cline or IronBay regulator is the ticket using muffler pressure.

I have a question for any of you knowlegable Saito guys. I'm looking to buy a used Saito, small or mid block, but I want to stay away from anything that no longer has parts available. There is a 40 and a 45 on e-bay, but I'm pretty sure someone (Hobbsy?) said partd weren't available for one of those. What about the 50's, 65's and 80's? Thanks.

The original 40 , 45, 45S, 50, 65, 80 have all been discontinued.

many parts are common with the 45S, 50, 56, 62.

Many parts are also common with the 65 thru 91 or so engines

But the original 40 is extremely scarce.

There are a lot of the first design 45's around but the only parts would be something that's also used on the 56.

The 45S design looks like a 50 or 56 but they were not so common in the USA as by the time they came out, people were buying the 50.

In reality, if a Saito is not broken in a crash or run with bad bearings, they will pretty much last a life time.

Bearings and rings are readily available from other sources.

The gas tank is too high and is really hard to move down. I have been closing the throtthe trim all the way when fueling and that seems to work

I have a question on priming with a cline regulator. Will a finger over the exhaust and a few flips of the prop be enough to pressurize the tank and get enough vacuum at the carb to get fuel, or will I need to spin the engine with a starter. Right now I don't have a starter that will spin my 1.80.
