Thanks. I'll pass on the WC Helimix then. My LHS has Omega and CoolPower. Based on previous posts, I'll avoid the CP and go with Omega.
On a different note: I can not find Marvel Mystery AIR TOOL Oil anywhere. I can find plain ol' Marvel Mystery Oil. I can find Kobalt Air Tool Oil. Where are you guys getting the MM Air Tool Oil?

The other oils will work for you including Automatic automobile transmission fluid Mercon ATF or Dexron
I've not seen the MM air tool oil either
Omega is a good model airplane fuel

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
G'day Saito lovers - The thing that seems to have saved the Spitfire (the real one not some model) was that the wing was built with washout at the tips so that the inner part of the wing actually stalled before the tips did. The pilot could feel this in the stick and this made it easier to fly at the limit than some other aircraft of the time as it did not tend to drop a wing as it neared stall. Models do not always have this and some Spitfires I have seen have been quite nasty at lower speeds. I have a 60 size P47 which I was worried about but it is very tame at low speeds and glides really quite well. (It is one of my few models not to have a Saito in it and has had a couple of flame outs as I have not yet quite got the Thunder Tiger 91 running right.)

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
I was thinking the Spitfire had 2 degrees washout whereas a lot of full size planes only have 1/2 degree washout
The small tips make it so sensitive. A straight wing plane doesn't have such a bad problem

What's the largest dia. prop you can get away with?
You might be able to make or buy a taller landing gear? There are manuf. that make specialty landing gear for Extra's, Edges, etc. and I think that's the way I would go...

G'day OF. The sound of a Merlin or two is one of the most wonderful sounds around. At Temora Aero Museum, they have not one but two Spitfires - a Mk VIII and a Mk 16 (my $2 keyboard won't let me type a Roman 10). They fly them regularly. When I was last there they were flying the Mk VIII together with a P51D. The sound of them together was spine tingling. They also have an amazing range of aircraft from a Ryan ST-M to a Canberra Bomber, Meteor and Vampire. And they all fly. Wonderful stuff. Well worth a look at their site - just Google Temora Aero Museum. They fly once a month for most months. I also have the plans for one of these - A CAC Boomerang fighter. It flies too. How about a Saito R170 in one of these?

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
vf84 ......I have this same Saito 100 that I purchased this year at Toledo. On page 3 of the manual Saito recommends a fuel containing 20% oil and 10-15% nitro methane. It goes on to say that if this blend is not readily available, the next best selection is a high quality 2 cycle glow fuel, such as Hangar 9 Aero-Blend, Omega, Cool Power, K&B, Power Master, etc. Use of fuels composed entirely of castor oil is not recommended. A mix of synthetic-castor oil is acceptable an can be found in the various fuels described above. That's what Saito is saying.
I use Power Master 15%/20 Heli synthetic. I have used this blend since day one on my other Saitos with no problems. Hope this help.

Thinking about buying a new Saito 72 AAC to replace engine in an existing model. Can anyone tell me what the crankcase width is just below the mounting "ears"? Using Sig G/F mounts. Want to make sure will fit without having to redrill firewall, etc. Thanks.

The same back to you and yours, Paul.
I never dreamed that there would be a day when folks with similar interests all over the globe would be able to build friendships and share experiences. For that I am truly greatful. Happy Holidays to everyone at RCU and all of its readers/contributors.

would you believe the 220 is lighter than the recommended 26cc gas engine and makes more than an extra hp?

O.F.... I believe it...the glow version of the 2.20/36cc Saito has gotta be lighter w/o all that ignition equipment, huh?
What size prop are you running or going to run on the 2.20?

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
Ok, the H9 Hellcat .60 is finished and ready to fly.
Based on the advice/opinions here, I picked up a gallon of Omega 15% today. I'm going to go with 50/50 ATF and air tool oil for an after-run treatment. I did notice the Morgan website says the Omega is 17% oil, 80/20 synthetic/castor. That falls short of the Saito manual recommendation of 20% oil, but the Morgan FAQ says that their 17% oil content is good enough. I hope so!
Now, if only the weather will cooperate.
