I didn't compare them on a test stand with a tach but have used both on airplanes at different times and didn't notice any difference.

There are numerous versions of the old machined muffler as well as the newer cast muffler as well as the 15 degree, 30 degree, and straight all threaded pipes

And there are also several variations of the brass pipes with no muffler.

The mufflers made specifically for the 91S was also used on the 100 and now the latest one is used on the 115

Hi guys,

I'm not to familiar with the Saito 1.25. I got this engine used and it was missing the LS needle. I purchased a new one, my question is, from fully close, how many turns do I need to open it to start with?

I don't know if I can do this in forum but I am in need of a carb for a saito 100. I do not need a arm or the manifold tube. If anyone can help please PM me! Thanks!!!!!

Start out with the needle flush with the outer surface of the throttle arm

When finely tuned the needle will be recessed below the level of the throttle arm maybe 1/16"

I'll try that this weekend, this engine is going in the Seagull extra 260. Is a 15-7 APC ok for this airplane/engine combo? no 3D just hover and fly around.

Now I have a question for the community.
I just picked up a barely broken in Saito .91, has about 4 gallons thru it, and it looks almost pristine inside and out.
The original owner was using an APC 14-6 and getting around 9600 RPM. I'm putting it on a 4 * 60, so thrust I want, no need for speed.
My old Saito .65 ran just great with that same prop, just wondering if I should prop the .91 down to the low 9000's. Any thoughts?

I have a 4* 60 with a Saito .91 and use a Materairscrew 14x6. The 4* 60 is a very gentle flying plane that doesn't need a lot of power; however, it is so light that you may want to kep the extra power for an emergency. I have been in situations where the extra power kept me out of trouble.

Walked into one of the local hobby shops last Sat. Looking to buy about $10 of hardware and while standing in line to pay, I was looking at the engine case as they also have some used stuff. The one that caught my eye was a FA-90T marked as an 80. Walked out with it for the marked price of $145. Dont think it has been run either. Might not be the best twin but better than no twin. Now I just need to get lucky with a radial.

Hi Capt lou,
Yeah the old 4 * 60 has flown 3 years with the old Saito .65, in fact that Saito .65 first flew out at Coyle field back in the 90's on a CG Anniversary Cub.
I look forward to the extra performance that the 91 will offer, but I also like to use throttle (no ratshlt[X(] on my left stick).
I just got the current MA magazine, in the district 2 section there was a group photo of familiar faces taken back on "Penquin day" at Coyle, were you there by any chance?

Doug,

Some people will say that is a bit too small for the 1.25, but it should do fine with the prop. Look for max RPM in the high 9000 range. You'll just have to try it and fly it.

I belong to Pine Barrens and fly at Coyle but did not paticipate in Penguin Day. It was very windy (20 mph) and I wasn't going to risk my planes. No, I'm not in the picture but I know all these guys.

I just noticed that Hobby People is having a sale on their Airtronics R6000 72 MHz radios. A great price too.

Even though I have too many radios as it is, it has been quite a while since I have enjoyed an Airtronics radio. I'm really tempted to buy one.

Oh, new radios make you feel better when in the Winter Doldroms too.

We didn't get the ice.

We didn't get any snow until today. Yesterday's snow went south of us

I have my wife out there with the blower right now

We both worked at it this morning when one of the grown daughters got stuck out there but we have to do it again now

w8ye, you certainly were blessed to not get the ice! Here in SW Ohio, I scraped at least 1/2" of ice off of my car, and that was underneath 10"+ of snow! Worst I have seen in some time! The snow is bad enough, but with ice under it, driving is TOUGH!

Local governments have declared a Level 3 Snow Emergency in many counties and towns around here - that means you had better have a good REASON to be on the roads, or you can be cited. They want us to stay home, so I am working on a plane today. (KMP P-47)

Nothing worse than that mix of ice and snow.
All snow for us, but the southern part of the state is supposed to have a mix of ice and snow.
What am I doing wrong or missing here, if I don't go out and fire up the Ariens, it don't get done.
I hope everyone who is affected by this storm stays warm and safe.
Yeah, new stuff is nice. Have the .91 mounted on the 4 * 60 and redoing the throttle linkage.
