On a saito nut, one side is flat and one side has the corners a bit rounded off.
The thin nuts have the corners rounded off on both sides. Perhaps not what you seek. But they certainly work. Or you can use saito nuts instead. Or if you need thin and flat combined, I guess you could sand on them a bit.

The Saito nuts are thicker. Thin thinner nuts do not provide the thread grip needed. I prefer the Saito nuts because they offer the best quality in grip and are anodized providing corrosion protection. I use only the Saito nuts.

The weight of a smoke system is a real performance burden on these smaller planes but it can be done

The Macs set up probably weighs less?

oh its nice i think it will only add 250 Grams the 200 will be the tank with the oil! and the other 50 the servo and the silicones...!i have a lipo 2000mah thats why i dont need an extra battery..... the 200 ml tank is ok?

depends on how long you want to blow smoke?

One thing missing in those diagrams from previous threads on this subject is that there is a way needed to meter the amount of smoke fluid. It could be a simple preset device.

Gentlemen,

Doing some break-in running of a new 115 with a 15x8 prop.

With about 30 minute run time so far it peaks at about 8500 and then I richen up the high speed to drop a couple hundred rpm to about 8200. Idle is rough at 2800rpm. The compression is so good on this engine my electric starter can't spin it so I am using a chicken stick.

The problem I have is it will start backwards frequently. It even will start running backwards while running at idle.

I have searched the entire thread but I can only find one reference to this problem. I suspect my low speed needle is too rich but my experience with 4 strokes is limited.

Any comments appreciated.

My 82 had a tendency to run backwards on starting. I read on here that it was often caused by the tank being filled to the top. Since I've yet to run a tank dry with a 4-stroke, I always back an ounce or so out of the tank after filling. Haven't had this problem with this engine since.

Hi stallwart i don't know how you start your's or if the engine is inverted as mine is.I flip the prop and listen for the right wet gurgle sound,if it's there i hook the glo stick up and she fires.If it sounds dry i prime it,no way i'm giving away that kind of fuel reserve if you have to go around once or twice in gusty conditions,without getting nervous about a deadstick mate

A short video of my FA-72 after being broken-in today on the bench according to Hobbsy's method. Fuel used is 78% methanol, 2% acethone and a 50/50 oil mix of Graupner Titan and castor for 20% total.

I always use an electric starter on this 82, as I do on most other engines. All 4 strokes are inverted. My 62 only needs a good hard look or a slight breeze turning the prop to start. This 82 is a reliable easy starter, but did tend to run backwards with the tank filled to the brim (or whatever the tank has that is equivalent), but never had so much fuel as to hydrolock. That's why I was mystified until I read the post regarding "overfilling" the tank.

I like your style mate and i mean that sincerely,now drink half a cup of concrete and harden up a bit..tune it for a full tank and just kidding.You bring up a good subject re electric starters and fourstrokes.In that;should you use someting that rotationally violent on crankshafts etc particularly when they are cold if your motor is a bit full of fuel,and you can't feel it as you would by handflicking it??
