My saito 180 was spitting a lot of dark oil on the wing. When I took the tappet covers off the top rocker was very clean but the bottom or exhaust tappet was covered in dirty brown oil. I cleaned it up and replaced the gasket for the cover. I was wondering if I should be worried?

That is somewhat typical. Lets not worry about it right now. Lets see what happens in a longer term?

Remember, the oil that works its way up past the intake valve is still new and clean, the oil that works its way up past the exhaust valve has been fried during the combustion process.

Have any of you guys tried a Dubro motor mount to reduce the vibration from the 82a?

Terry, if the LS needle is set correctly the .82 should not shake if in a good solid mount.. Any mount that has flex will allow the tortional impulses, "strong power pulses and light engine", to turn into skake.

I have it mounted on a GP motor mount. It seems pretty solid but the vibration broke off my HS needle extension. I have read through out this thread that the 82 is bad to vibrate. The cowling seems to sing while in the air too.

My 180 is not getting the rpm that the specks says it should. I am running a 16/8 propellor using 15% Cool Power and only getting 8,300 rpm. Not that the Diablo is under powered but I was just wondering if there is any thing I can do. I did adjust the low speed idle jet quite lean to get the idle speed I wanted and am not sure if this would affect the high speed adjustment.

Keven,

You may have the low side too lean. I run the same prop and fuel and get into the low 9K's at sea level.
Edited to specify APC 16x8.

It is possible to get the low speed needle closed to a point where the high speed is essentially not adjustable

Maiden flight of my GP 300 with a new Saito 82a in it. This is my first 4 stroke, and man do I love it. The torque and the sound what more could one want.

Thanks guys for all the answers to questions that I had.  They were answered before I had to ask.

That's why I always recommend setting the LS needle while the HS needle is at absolute peak. Then when you get the LS needle too leam it will be real obvious.

OF, I guess you're coming into your spring down yonder, it's getting cold here, not too many Harley days left. If its like ;ast winter I rode it anyway.

Do you think a 15x6 MA is too much prop for a 1.00?

As some of you know I have done two power point presentations on repairing my 180 and more recently a 91S. I tried to post it a number of times on U Tube but have been unsuccessful. Both Files are quite large 40 mgs each. I would love to share them so that others do not have the same struggle as I had. Any suggestions??/

Hi Kevin,
I had a couple of friends turn their ppt to video and post it on U-tube. They said they just did a google search for "convert powerpoint to video" search. One sent me this link:

Hope this helps . . .
