Hello; I watched a fellow, at our field, assemble his plane, a decathlon, fill the tank, range check the rtadio, then connect the glow driver and had the engine start withour touching it. He had flipped it over a few times to be sure that the fuel was getting to the carb, but I didn't noticed him setting the prop in any certain position. He was standing over the plane and just put the glow driver on, and it started all by itself.

This particular engine was an OS 91 surpass. I've never seen a Saito do that!

We were all amazed to see that happen! He treid again and again to do it, but it just wouldn't go unless the prop was flipped.

After seeing that, everyone was shocked and amazed.

That would truely shock and amaze me as well...more so than my experience to be sure!!
I think I must have been unclear above...I was flipping the prop to prime it when it fired up from only the residual engine heat without the plugs energized. It did not just spontaneously start running without being touched. On the first "priming flip" I thought it sounded like it "popped" so I checked the Bat's, they were disconnected so put my finger over the exhaust tube intending a few more flips. I flipped it once again...on that one it just kept on spinnin'[X(]

Mike I have two of the .30s, if you have some kind of .25 sized plane you'd love one. Sometimes I run a Graupner 10.5x6 if the grass is real short, with the 10x5 pictured it jumps a Sig LT 25 of the grass. That number is using WildCat 15% Premium Extra.

Saito didn't quit making them. Horizon quit selling the 30 and 40 so they could sell more electrics

Recently this summer, Horizon started selling the 40 CL and silver R/C again and now this gold watch 30 but they don't have a flying everyday 30.

It looks like Horizon has stopped carrying the Saito 72. Though they have the GK version. Maybe they are discontinuing it?

Sort'a figures.

Hobbsy and I were talking back last June about this - that the 72 is a lost pup now that the 62 and 82 are around. There's no need for the 72

The 62 will pull a 13 X 6 within 300 rpm of what a 72 will and if power is important - there's the 82

I love my .72, let me tell you. Granted, I'd rather have an .82. But it's plenty enough for my .40 sized Revolver and it uses very little fuel.

Charlie, here is a side by side of the old .80 and .82, the .80 is obviously taller. My .80 is rapidly approaching 19 years old and is pretty skinned up but still runs strong. One other difference wortht noting is that the .82 prop shaft is a good bit longer.

i love the .80. it was on the plane when i bought it at my LHS.....local hell its 45 miles one way[8D].
just needed a little tlc . and i still havent replaced the pushrod tube seals. i just hate to mess with it because it runs so good.
whats a little oil oozing out....lol

be sure you get the tru-turn prop nut and adapter too. it'll save you a headache.

Nice looking Husky. If you haven't already; since it won't be a speed demon, try a APC 15/6 on that 100; the engine likes it and it should drag that Husky around real nice.

Thanks guys, I will get a true turn with the adapter. With the 14x8 it is unreal how fast this dump truck flies. I flew it for the first time yesterday and don't think I went past 1/2 throttle. I do have a 15x6 that I will try. This is my first Saito, and it is mounted inverted with no onboard glow. It runs awesome and sounds great.

OK.... I guess I just "returned" to club Saito... I bought a 450! Now, I have to find the right plane. I think I just found out why there are so many brand new 450's out there in the market... there just doesn't seem to be a perfect plane, other than a couple of warbirds, for this motor.

I'm trying to find a 1/4 scale Stearman, or maybe a Waco, but no luck other than going with a new stick built kit. Any suggestions?
