Hey Gajeeb, take a look at this guy, its a Davis Diesel Developement Jumbo Chicken Stick. Just think of how many of those cuts aren't on my hands. Its even been knocked out of my hands a few times, I have a Saito .80 and a Saito 1.50 each with high compression.

Seriously, there are definately some saved fingers on that stick... wise choice.

One of these days I'll figure out how to get that sleeve of of it and switch it end for end. So far it simply won't come off.

Go with a better brand of prop . 18x6W for 3d and I use the JZ's for all around performance the Xoar felt pretty good also. All 18x6 on 30% .

I had the good fortune to have given to me a pair of SAITO .65. I have no idea were to go to get the proper info on these engines. I need some parts for one of them. The one I have run is a pretty sweet old engine. Would like to put them in service. I feel sure in this Club SAITO there is some information on these engines. With 652 post, it would be like looking fo the needle in the haystack. I have a .72 that is great. My gift engines look kind of the same, but different. Anyhow if Someone could help it would be very much appreciated.

Well, I got my fingers whacked for the first, and last time, tonight.

I had the motor mounted on a test stand, flipped it a few times, then once it decided to flip back at me. So fast I couldn't get out of the way. I had forgotten what a glow motor could do to. Luckily, other than a scare and a sore knuckle, no damage, no skin broken, but a valuable lesson learned.

I did get a 1-1/2 inch harwood dowl from the basement and continue flipping with it... finally kicked off! Man, does that 450 sound great. The glow driver lets it idle so slow. It's crazy rich, and I'm going to keep it running slow and cool for a few tanks, then I'll get it mounted and see how it flies!

I believe it! I think my last motor was a 180... this thing is like 3 150's.... lots more kick back than my 170cc gas plane. Lesson learned (the hard way). Luckily, no damage. Looks like it's time for a Super Chicken Stick!

The 65 has been discontinued.

But most parts are still available if you can find them on Horizon's terrible search engine.

I can't tell you anything specific about the 65 apart from the fact that I have three, I use a 13 x 6 prop usually, I use fuel with 10% nitro, 5% castor, 15% synthetic and the rest methanol. The 65 is an older design and is quite heavy as it has a brass liner which is chromed. They are very docile engines and were very popular with scale model builders for their ease of use and good power for their size. I bought my first one for an ARF Sig Kadet Senior. I chose the 65 because I knew it was on the heavy side and as a result it balanced the model perfectly without any additional weight being needed. I have since bought a second hand one which looks like it has always run on castor based fuel and as a result it is a bit coked up but runs fine. My third is new in its box still waiting for an outing. Nice reliable if slightly heavy engines. Heavy compared to more recent Saitos, not when compared to OS Surpass engines.

I've got an open rocker Saito 30 with a carb mounted straight onto the head. Does anyone know where I can get an intake manifold so that the tank isn't head high?

Nope, I just assumed the old "1/2" below the needle valve" rule was the way to go. Do you think the tank would be OK 2" low?

The carb is smaller and runs without muffler pressure. It should be fine. At least try it to prove the point to your self

the engine is more of a 9-6 engine. It doesn't run like the present 30.

G'day I think W8YE is on the right track. I have a couple of Laser engines which have the carby mounted directly on the head and they run fine with no muffler pressure and the tank lower than I would have thought normal. Like your little Saito, the Lasers have smaller carbys than other similar sized engines and have no problem hauling the fuel up to the head. The alternative is to mount the engine on its side? My oldest Saito is an early 45 and it is also a "mild" runner and dose not seem to worry much about tank height either. It doesn't make much power either though.
