RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
There is a long thread concerning the FG-20 over in the gas engine forum. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_83...tm.htm#9431865
I have two FG-20's and a FG-36

That would drive me up a wall. I am a bit of a perfectionists so I do not have a problem redoing the canopy. I feel that if I spent so much attention to include all these details it would not be too much trouble to fix it.

My 125 is inverted. The velocity stack (with o-ring) robbed RPM. With or without the Blue-Line Filter. I love the idea of the filter catching all fuel (and dirt!) and keeping the plane clean, saving money, longer flights, etc!
I bored the stack out to match the carb. I had to use epoxy to hold the stack to the plate, because I removed so much of the I.D. Still no good. Still too restrictive, I presume, because it still kills the top end. So, I run the 125 without stack.
I've put the bored-out stack on my new 82B. Yet to break it in. We'll see how it helps/hurts down the road a few weeks.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
Hey I have a saito 300 Twin single carb, single plug no pump less then a gallon of fuel through it . I was wondering if anyone has one and if they have run if yet. mine is making a growling sound coming out of the crank case. If i use a fuel bulb to force after run oil in the vent the growling goes away for the first tank or so. I have also pulled the vale covers and have checked to see i was getting oil to them and i dont see that much in there. My other saito's dont have this problem. I also hear a tick coming out of the cam i think. any one else have any experience with this.
Thanks Joe

Im building a pitts s2s from Bipe Flyers plans and it takes a saito 30. I just got to thinking that it might look good with a 3 blade prop so I might try that, Thanks.

I just started looking for 9x6 3 blade and cant hardly find anything. Tower has 9x7 master airscrew 3 blades and thats as close as I can find. Where else could I look for a 9x6 3 blade?

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
talking about 3 blade props, Graupner is indicating the use of a 14x6 for the os120 surpass
so the 150 saito should be like 16" but not enougth ground clearance.
can I use a three blade like 14 or 15" x 8-10 ?
btw, still waiting on the delivery of the big bore.
And tnx for those who answered my previous questions

The standard prop for the 150 is a 16 X 8 two blade
You can also run a 15 X 8 or 15 X 10 two blade
To run a three blade drop one inch of diameter

Still tweeking on the Saito 450 a little. It's turning about 6600 RPM with a 23x10. Horizon says it will turn a 22x12 at 7000, but I think that's got to be down hill with a stiff tailwind. Anyway, it seems like I've got the sluggish performance problems behind me, but I did see one thing on the ground that was a little odd.
I've got the onboard glow set to turn off about half throttle. If I let the plane idle for a minute or so, it's very sluggish when I start to add throttle. If I very slowly inch the throttle up, it will heat the plugs up enough and run like a top, but if I go over half throttle too quickly, it will run very sluggish. I can't imagine spending that much time at idle with a 30 pound plane, so it shouldn't be a problem.
I wish the weather were better so I could get in the air!

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
I guess i'll have to buy a couple of props with different sizes and give a try with a tachometer
btw, does a 4c engine unload the same as a 2c ?
If I get max rpm onthe ground, will it add 500-1k once in the air ? and thus pass the max rpm the engine can handle and destroy it ?
I know sounds weird but it's my first "expensive" engine

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
Gentleman,
I am having trouble with a Saito .72 ringed engine idling properly. It was carefully broken in on the test stand, and idled nicely for an engine with only 3/4 of a gallon through it, certainly well enough to mount on an airframe and go fly.
I have it side mounted on a 3D profile. 20/20 fuel. When I bring it back to idle, it coughs, sputters, and quits. Sometimes it runs backwards for a few seconds in this process of quiting. I have done all the obvious trouble shooting, new plug, new fuel line, even a new tank. The idle has been richened and leaned, and I am back to the mid-point idle screw setting which should provide a decent idle. Does this sound like a valve adjustment issue? The spontaneous back-fire/run backwards has me thinking this might be the cause. I have never had a problem with a Saito before....
Your ideas are welcome.....
Thanks Mike

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
HI, After you check the rocker clearence, My first guess would be a small
peice of crap in the carb. Poping and backfiring is caused by a very lean condition.
If all else fails, take the carb completely apart, nipple and all and find the restriction
in the low speed circuit. Hope youfix it fast,, how is the weather where you are?

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
The LS needle is too rich, when it is lean the engine just quits, instantly, no cough, no sputter. Set the LS needle with the HS needle at absolute peak or you'll be chasing the LS needle forever.
RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
I have to ask for a little help on my saito 82. I am running powermaster 20/20, getting 8300 rpm on a 13x8 prop. My problem is I cant get this thing to run smoothly....its like it is loading up rich all the time and I cant get a steady high rpm. I have my low end set where if i go any leaner, it just dies upon accel. My high end is about a turn out......but it acts like it needs to be even leaner! Is this still in the normal range of adjustment? is 3/4 turns out on the hs way to lean? or is there something elese maybe happening, like maybe to much prop?
Thanks in advance!
