WOW GaGeeBee, That 270 in the Spacewalker sound great. Cant stop listening to it lol. the 300 sounds pretty doggone sweet too. The question from the gentleman earlier about tank size has me now wondering. Whats the average burn rate per minute in the 270T? Being my first multi cylinder im completely at a loss. Also Is the McDanials glow igniter the best hook up out there ? and at the risk of showing my ignorance, is it fiesable to run an ignition with glow fuel or will it even work? They Sure Sound Sweet though. Sorry if the questions are obviously that of a RANK newbie to multi 4S, if I keep that up I will never get a number lmao...Neil

No, Im putting it in a New (Old Stock) Byron Originals Pitts Special. One of the 80's kits I came acrossed awhile back. (BTY) I am searching desperately for an assembly manual for the Byron Pitts as the kit was complete minus the manual. I have tried contacting Iron Bay and they are just hopeless so, my quest for the manual shall continue. Also plan to use it ( 270T)in an old kit I have yet to build from Ace R/C the old 1/3rd Scale WEEKS Special. I believe it is a Miles Reed design should be plenty for it as it comes in with about the same weight as the Pitts 15-17 lbs and only calls for 30cc and up and I believe the 270 is just under 50cc if Im not mistaken (45cc- 48)

got a question and a few pics here of my Saito 100. i needed to have a look at this engine before i fired it up for the year. here is what i've found. can this be caused by worn main bearing? or what else would cause it?

Looks like either a worn bearing allowed the rod to contact the case at the bottom of the power stroke or a piece of the bearing cage chipped off and got between the rod and case for a revolution or three. Were there any bits of debris inside the case? Might be a good idea to pop the crankshaft out and see if there's anything up front debris or damage-wise.

Started off with piano, then graduated from guitar to every stringed instrument I could hold onto for a few days or more, except the harp. Fiddled and banjoed in a few country bar bands and played bass and guitar in a few more along with several bar rock bands all over the Ohio through N. GA circuit till '93. Been playing @ 38 yrs as well...and my kid at 16, playing for a year and a half, is better already than I ever was. Moniker came from the longstanding desire to get an extended neck (24 vs 22 frets) rickenbacker hollow body ala Tom Petty circa 1982, when I had to pick an email tag with the advent of internet, it seemed logical. Now self-employed for 11 years+, it just means I worry all day And if I keep buying Saito's I'll never get that ricky 24!

1 ounce per cubic inch per minute at wide open throttle is a very good rule of thumb. I've got a 28 ounce tank so that gives me a solid 10 minutes+ of run time at wide open throttle. The McDaniel is a very good onboard glow and is the one I use most often. They have great service and support. I usually buy the battery pack from them as well, that way I know the wiring is heavy enough for the amperage draw and all the plugs match up and it's basically plug-n-play. Regarding ignition - yes it can be done and I had a 2.70 with a C-H ignition setup. Mine had an actual mechanical spark advance and the whole nine yards. Pretty complicated but it worked. I converted it back to glow plugs for the sake of simplicity.

I have a question for you guys. I have a well broken in Saito 150 that has been a real trooper for the past couple of years. Recently I started having a problem with the engine at high throttle. It seems to load up and gradually drop RPM until it quits (fortunately my Super Stearman has survived the dead stick landings). The engine starts easily and peaks at about 8500 rpm with a 16x8 Master Airscrew Classic Series prop. After I richen the engine about 400 RPM, the RPM gradually decays until it dies around 6500 RPM. I thought it was too rich, but as I try to lean the engine it quickly becomes too lean and dies. If I try richening the high end more than about two turns out from closed, it loads up and dies. I have changed fuel tanks, all fuel tubing and the glow plug with no improvement. I also tried leaning the low end, but no luck. Any ideas of what I'm missing (besides good engine tuning skills)? Thanks in advance for any help!
