On my Saito 180, there is no lip to catch at the inside of the main bearing. I tried oven heat and the wood board smack at temps up to 300 degree C, without it moving.

I then used a expansion bolt normally used for anchoring bolts in concrete, It is a stud and nut combination with a tapered sleeve that expands when the bolt is tightened. I picked the one closest to the ID of the bearing, inserted it in the bearing and tightened the bolt until it expanded into the inner race. I heated the crankcase with a heat gun and then used an puller on thr bolt to pull the bearing.

I was referring to drag and weight. Also, the amount of air it will pump past the prop vs two & three blades. Yes, I know about c/l engines that turned mega-thousands rpm. (Those are interesting too)

BobH: I use a 16oz tank on my Christen Eagle II with the Saito 3.00 twin. I get about 10-12 minutes of flight and still have a little in the tank when back on the ground. This plane weighs about 16 lbs.

I love the sound of the Saito 3.00 twin. I do have an onboard glow driver that kicks in at just 1 click under half throttle. However, I have found that the Christen Eagle II is really touchy on takeoff. Once in the air it flys great. However, my favorite airplane is either the Spacewalker 120 (Saito 1.80) of any of my four Funtanas with Saito 1.25's. Hope you enjoy the 3.00 twin, I do.

John which on board glow are you using? I have used a few myself. I just lost my CE this past weekend. It was flying with a 3.2 taurus engine. A friend built the plane (bought it from him actually) the battery tray came off in flight and I lost the radio.. hence the plane. My CE was pretty easy to take off and land.. I didn't have any problems with it.

I lost my first Funtana S90 last summer with the same thing, threw the battery out doing a vertical snap. Was lucky and got an S90 off ebay. Finished it and have it ready to fly. Will try to rebuild the broken S90 this winter. I also fly the x100 and 2 of the new 125's. Love all of them.

I think it was during spins the the battery tray came lose.. I have a NIB CE.. so if i want another i can build it.. if not i'll just sell it.

I have just received a Saito 90TS Flat Twin AAC, LL, it has a single bright valve cover on each cylinder that covers both rocker arms, and there is one carbureter with one intake and one set of needle valves, however, the picture on the box it came in and the picture on the instruction manual shows a duel carbureter and seperate valve covers on the cylinder heads, I am confused ???

The picture on the box is of a 90T or 100T. You have a 90TS which is completely different.

The 90TS is a very nice sweet running engine

Yes it is a nice engine BUT I NEED THE MANUAL! The one they sent is for a twin with dual carbureter, I copied the one off the Saito website for a 90TS and it is also for a dual carbureter twin, where can I get the correct manusl for my engine?

Here is a question for those with a 4 cycle gas Saito.

I have an FG-20 that has successfully flown about 15 flights in the 120 size Aeroworks Yak54. I am still using the 15x6 break-in prop and getting 9000-9500 rpm on the ground. When I put the airplane in the air it runs great up to ¾ throttle. Responses, transition and idle are all good, but at full throttle it cuts out in flight; not on the ground. This has not been an issue other than make me nervous that it is going to dead stick and that I don’t have all the power I could have. If this is normal until I get past the 20 flights and go with a bigger prop that’s okay I just don’t want to damage something. The ¾ power gives me plenty of power for sport flying but if it is supposed to go faster, why not?
