Good day!
Is it possible that anyone scan and send me the original factory instructions manual of the Saito FA-82b engine?
Thank you a lot.

Thank you mschulz531, but this is not what I am looking for. It has very generic information. I would like to have the black and white leaflet that comes from Japan with every Saito engine and has specific info for that engine (one characteristic feature to let you understand is that the leaflet explains also the four stroke cycle at the beginning).

Ok I have a head scratcher.
I havea Saito FA 125. runs like a top. Last weekend I went out for a fly. It was quite hot out. Engine fired up as normal and ran good. I put the tach on it to have a look, 8500 rpm swinging a 16x6 MAS. We did the plane shake routine ( tail down WOT) and no loss in rpm. I hit the runway and took off. a good 10 seconds after leaving the ground, the engine started to sound sluggish and drop in RPM. I landed and played with the HS needle some more. I refueled the tank and did my ground check again. I was able to hold WOT for a few mins with out any loss of RPM. I once again hit the runway, same as before, 10-15 secounds after take off the engine sounds it is loosing 4000-5000 rpm. I am running Byron 20/18 fuel and never had a problem with it before.

Any ideas where I should start looking? (I am probally in the 4th gallon of fuel through the engine)

I would venture to say the clunk is stuck at the front of the fuel tank, maybe above the halfway full mark too. Thus when you take off the fuel inlet is exposed to air causing the engine to lean out and lose power. That could also happen if a small hole or tear in the fuel line occurs right where the fuel tube meets the fuel line on the inside of the fuel tank.

If you were down here with the 100 degree F plus temperatures we have, I would say the engine is suffering from heat sag, and you need to run it more rich and live with the power loss.

Eric, along with Earl's advice check everything while you are at it. Replace fuel and vent lines since they are both cheap and a source of problems. Inspect any brass tubing very closely. Look at the tank stopper and fit. Some people change fuel tank systems every year.

Hi there again Saitologists!

Looking at getting an Aeroworks YAK 54 .90-1.20 and the AW recommended 4S is Saito 125 but reviews say power for the YAK is adequate but not great (ie wont really pull hard out of a hover). Many suggest Saito 150 but I'm worried about fuel consumption - the YAK has a 15 oz tank. I dont mind buying the 150 but really need to pick your collective brains about whether a 150 is likely give me 12 mins + flight time on the 15oz tank on, say, 15% nitro. I know this is a tough question where flying style etc all plays a role......

Thanks!

Beej

If the kit says 90 two stroke i always nearly double that. You should get around 8 minutes on that fuel tank if you go gentle on the throttle.I'm looking for a classic floater aerobatic type plane to put my new 200r3 in because i like the sound they make when you throttle them back

If you do a search of the threads you’ll find one on that aircraft. I flew it for about 6 months with the FG-20 and it would do everything but hover. I think the FA-180/FG-30 would be required for that level of 3D flight. I’m putting the 200R3 in my GP-WACO and after it flies I’ll report how powerful it would be; I suspect it would be enough for that 10 pounder.

Be sure to reinforce the mains or make all landing at 1G or less. That thread has plenty of tips. That is a good ARF and the support is good as well. I don’t have it anymore because I was just trying 3D; did not enjoy it as much as I had hoped. I sold the aircraft to a fellow club member and he electrified it.

How about a Sig Rascal 110 four your 200r3? Anyway, you would have to modify the nose.

Running an 18x6 MAS on the 1.25 sounds like a lot of load. I run 18x6 with my 1.80. Just my .02$.

Probably a typo. Those are probably the numbers for a 16x6 prop....

It was a lot cooler outside 2 weeks ago. I'd say insufficient cooling...

I pulled the prop last night and I was wrong, It is a 16x6 MAS. The engine is on a tiger 60 up right with no cowl.
I edited my other post...

Mike, I tried that as well, what is bothering me is that on the ground, it did not mater how we held the plane, there was no problems. I held i WOT for at least 3 mins and did not loose any rpm. if it was a clunk stuck in the front of the tank issue as one peroson posted, that whould have showed up when we held it vertical. There wasnice smoke comming from the pipe at all rpms.
But each time I took off, as I banked after take off you can clearly hear the Saito loose RPM and it would not come back untill after I landed again.

The only think I can think of that would have changed is that my fuel jug is getting low, Would moisture in the fuel react like this?

I've had a similar problem on a different engine (2 stroke) that was in break-in. I could run the whole tank on the ground without a glitch. But once in the air, it would quit at part throttle/idle. I suspect I was running too rich? But on the ground, the engine could idle or run at WOT indefinitely with great throttle response. Maybe the unloading of the engine while flying would cause the rich setting to drown out the engine? Just speculation so far, I have to put the engine back on a plane and fly it to verify.

I was running fresh fuel, with extra castor.

Well, I have a Saito 120 on my Sig Mayhem. LOVE it!! Then I HAD a Saito 100 on my 60 size ultra Stick. I have an O.S. 91 4-stroke on my 60 size trainer. I have 3 electrics and NUMEROUS 2 cycle nitros. My favorites BY FAR are my Saito 4 strokes. BUT, ANY 4 stroke wins out over ANY electric, or any 2 stroke nitro. Btw, does anyone know where I can get a crankshaft for my Saito 100? The motor hasnt even had a gallon run through it yet but I bent the heck out of the crank. (running into a tree head on in my showtime 90) Its all tore apart. Of course I will change the bearings too. Nothing has any wear at all. I determined the crank was bent first by the massive vibrations created by the engine. Then I dissassembled it and using cast v-blocks I confirmed what I already knew! The crank was bent at the tip where the threads are. BUMMER! Stef Rockford, Il.
