Check here, there is a .5" drill bit with a .25" pilot. Dick Bennett passed away last September but It looks like someone is still trying to carry on.

Thanks for the info. on B & B I have tried to contact them on several occasions. No one answers and the fax is not hook up. the .25 pilot and .50 bit is exactly what I need. Any thoughts on where else I might find one of these?

Anyone have any info on the new Saito 1.80B? Horizon says it has a new case. Seems to be the outside dimensions of a 1.25.

The prop adapter ridge inserts into the tru-turn washer, not the prop. The washer hole is larger than the prop shaft. The ridge keeps it centered.

I think you will find that on the short shaft adapter for the 1' shaft the adapter goes through the washer and then sets 3/8 of an inch into the prop hub. This has to be drilled to 1/2 inch dia. 3/8 inch deep and should use the 0.25 hole in the prop. to index to get a true 1/2 inch hole in the prop to align properly. This should be drilled so the prop nut seats flush aganist the prop at a depth of 3/8 in. A regular drill bit or countershink will usually have about a 92 degree angle on the bit so by the time you get 3/8 of an inch into a 3/4 in thick prop plus the amount used for the angle, you don't have much let for the prop?
Your suggestions are appreciated? Do you know of anyone using a Tru Turn Spinner and short adapter on the Satio that has encountered a similar problem?

You are correct, you can see where the adapter comes thru the washer and leaves about 3/8 of an inch that must inset into the prop hub.

Old fart, I usually play with various different props and fuel mix combos to determine what the max rpm that any particular engine will give. My best example is my pair of YS 63's (one of each series) on Bolly 13.5 x 6 and 6.5's I can get up to 500rpm difference in performance depending on the oil mix for the engine.
For out right power extraction I use Bolly props for Texaco type economy I use Master airscrew and for anything else I use APC keeping an eye out for stretch marks at the blade root to hub area

Yes agree with your comments and thanks for that.Specifically i was looking at the prop figures the author was quoting for the saito 100 petrol engine claiming 8715 on an apc15x8.I can get that on my 115 running 10% nitro but it's on the lean side,hence my question

A piloted drill bit IS NOT a counterbore!
Be carefull here.
You can achieve the same thing as a piloted drill bit W/a 1/2" standard bit if you have a drill press. (which you should have in any case for this operation)
Besides, the hole in the priop needs to 7mm doesn't it? A 1/4" pilot will be useless unless you are just using a blank prop #W/a 1/4" pilot hole.

Had some earlier postings concerning converted saito's using E85 fuel, and have some questions concerning oil mixes.
Been using Stihl Ultra HP @32:1 for gassers, & planned to go to 20:1 for converted 270T using gas (also FG20 & FG36).
For E85 usage, should the oil mix be increased to 15:1 or more?
I've read that gasoline has some inherent lubricity & E85 apparently doesn't have much gas in it.

I have some Saito FA - 325R5 parts I want to sell and I would like to know what a fair asking price would be.
I have a gasket set part # 325-32 for the FA-325R5 that's new in the Saito package and 2 sets of part #325- 72/73 Exhaust pipe/Gasket Set, also new in the Saito packages which I don't think are available anymore.

The hole in the prop matters not, the .5" shoulder on the adapter locates the prop. Most props have a .25 in hole and is the reason for the .25" pilot on the drill.
