I know this is not a very common buggy by today's standards but I feel as though there's still a small and dedicated following of this 80s classic. Just like some of you this was the car that actually got me into RCs and each time I see it I feel like a little kid again.
I haven't had one in about 20 years but that's all about to come to an end now that I just bought one again! Its in the mail and on its way. I had it over nighted to me so I hope all goes well and it gets to me tomorrow. I'll get some pics posted up as soon as I get it and clean it up some.
For those of you that have an Arrow or are looking to buy an Arrow the decals will be in bad shape due to use and age of the buggy so I will making a FULL set of reproduction decals for the buggy If you guys are interested in getting a set for your Arrow let me know and if I get enough interest maybe I can do a group buy to help keep the cost down.
Come on guys share video, pics, tech info, upgrades, restoration tips or anything else for that matter in relation to the Golden Arrow lets hear it or see it.
Cheers

I not only had one of these, I sold them. At the time I was the assistant manager of a local RS (read that as the abbreviation of assistant...). The only perk I had for my "title" was I had first shot of buying anything that was returned. Someone had bought a Golden Arrow thinking it would keep up with his friend's RC10 and brought it back after a couple of hours of running time because it was not in the same class... I got it for $25. But since I had a Frog and an RC10 at the time, I soon got bored with it and sold it off to a friend of a friend. It was a nice entry level RC though, one foot in the kid's toys category and one foot in the serious RC'er catagory. I am sure it got a lot of folks hooked for the more expensive stuff....

Cool to see so much interest in the Golden Arrow - definitely one of my faves from the 1980s, and really, the greatest model ever sold at Tandy/Radio Shack.
Last year, I featured it on my blog, so some of you might find that fun to read... http://rctoymemories.com/2013/04/29/...en-arrow-1987/
I'll have to get around to profiling the Red Arrow as well

Finished doing the upgrades, ended up using a 17T speed gems motor and installed a Futaba servo saver and turnbuckles. The whole project was a success and the car runs very fast and straight, the 2.4ghz radio allow me to drive it as far as 600 feet away.
Below some picks of the car.

i could be wrong but i think nikko did the electronic boards that are the ones used in the golden arrow
if you want to keep it sock otherwise new esc, receiver and transmitter and servo then it will be up and running
most of the other parts are compatible with the tamiya hornet

yeah but you will always find someone who wants everything as it meant to be as it was made
and you will always find someone who thinks its best to improve with today's technology
and the price of 2.4gh now its just to cheap not to have it keeps the "ghost driver " out of the golden arrow lol

Nikko was so ahead of others at the time, their speed controls, digital proportional and even using hobby grade sized motors. I mean would believe that over 20 years laters these toy cars would be so sought after.
