Hi Carlos
Not sure where you can find the Airpower retract parts, but do a search on the internet and maybe you`ll find what you need? I just started to build the fin.
Regards
Craig

Hi Guys
I had to install the fin trailing edge and encountered a slight problem, regarding the alignment of it. So I had no choice, but to do what I did and it worked out. I guess that the hot weather, which we have been experiencing, could be the reason for the alignment issue? The trailing edge is "jigged" in position and I`m waiting for the glue to dry.

Just built the fin and must still glue the hinge blocks in position. I don`t have some 1/2" X 1/2" balsa,so I`m making it up,from off-cuts of 1/4" X 1/2" balsa strips.

Hi hooker 53 and RAPPTOR
Thankyou for your comments. I agree that the fin can easily get a twist in it,when the sheeeting is applied to it. I`ll try to "jig" it up in position, when I apply the 1st bit of sheeting and also when the last piece of sheeting is done. Didn`t do any work on it yesterday,as I was away for the day, doing some Bass fishing. I caught 20 in total for the day.

Craig

Yes,20 for the day. They ranged from small to the size in the photo. My Brother-in-law works on a Wine Farm and the Owner has got a nice Dam there. I`m not sure what the depth of it is,but there are plenty of Bass in there. So when the weather is not good for flying,we can go fishing.

Hi Guys
I`m using a very primitive way of supporting the fin post, which the sheeting is applied to it. As the photos show,I`ll be doing the left side and then the right side. Due to the fact that I had to use 3mm plywood for the fuselage sides,I had to shim up the tailpost, with two strips of 3mm plywood, between the square and the tail post. So its all straight now and I`m waiting for the glue to dry on the balsa sheets, which were edge glued together. Tomorrow I`ll start with the sheeting process.

And the Leading edge sheeting of the fin,is in place. The fin remained straight, even with the jig removed. Any closer than this, then it will be out.

Hi Guys. Didn`t do any work on the fuselage on Sunday - did some Bass fishing. I just sanded the front sheeting and will do a final sanding, when all the sheeting is completed.

Gone a bit quiet on this thread. Any progress?
Been looking at retract options and wondered if fitting a set of slightly shorter legs would cause any issues (apart from chnages to wing openings etc during building). The new Ripmax retracts for the Xcalibur are great quality for the pirice, but are 20mm shorter roughly than the legs on the plan. I can't see this being an issue with clearance, but I thought I'd ask.
Cheers,
Simon
