I was joking with him yesterday before the maiden that I’ve been following this thread for two months! I “have a lot invested in this” so I was staying as late as it took if he was going to do the maiden. Glad it was such a success!

Java, the dry weight of the Turbo is 22.5 lbs, I predicted it was going to weight max 22 lbs, add the 100 oz of fuel and the 40 oz of smoke, 8 lbs and you get a weight of 30.5 lbs on TO. But I will fill up the tanks and will get the true weight with full tanks.

Get it going Pat, it takes a bit of work and time ( not 12 years like me ) like Ziroli mention on the instruction manual, you will be reworded with a nice, good flying airplane.

12 mounts is reasonable ;-)), rather that 12 years, start, you will enjoy it,

Any more fly Carlos?

No flying since the maiden, either too hot or no time but, I just heard from Callie Graphics that the Turbo graphics will be on the way tomorrow.
On my days off I will check and adjust what needs to be done and will start the scheme details, next time it flies it will be all dressed up

Then and now.

So far I haven't touch the Turbo since the maiden, I did a repair job on my friend's KinCat ( an easy one ) then it has been too hot or too windy to fly anything but, the work continues on other projects, the graphics for the Turbo have arrived, I'm done with a simple project that will fly today Fri, I had one of these foamies years ago, a friend is still flying it, I just had to have another one for me, also in between all, I fixed a flap travel problem ( not enough ) on my Boomerang XL, it was as simple as assigning a switch on the aux page to the flap chl.

I will start the cosmetics work on the Turbo tomorrow.

After all my small projects are completed, its time to go back to the Turbo.

Things to do, stretch the Monokote in some areas, extend the heat shield to the end of the bottom of the fuse, adjust steering, add trim tape, paint the canopy, add Callie Graphics graphics and a few other things.

Some work done today, the monokote on the fuse is all stretched now, apparently the exhaust got to the the very end of the fuse, the monokote didn't take the heat too well, I'm extending the heat shield to the end.

Hello Carlos,

Are your heat shields both Black part and extended part Aluminium sheet?

Yes they are, I got me a 6 feet by 4 feet sheet cut from a roll from the hardware store, it doesn't have to be thick, the black color came from a rattle can, that paint is good up to 2K°, I also got it from the hardware store.

I was planing to do so next week, the forecast for next week for the local temperature is for 100°, that is a bit too hot for man and machines.

Callie Graphics comes through one more time, excellent work, couldn't be any happier with the results.

How is this, my friend from South Africa ( who's also a jet nut ) suggested to use the metalic tape used on the ventilation ducts.
