I was looking at page 15 and saw that you have been at this for a few years now, looks like you got your plans in April 2015, well for me it took,11 years and 5 months to complete this jet, lets build this airplane this winter, I will be fallowing your progress, I'm sure other guys will too, so, I expect progress reports at least once a week.

Hahaha yes you are right, long time lurker, had another baby and the kid/work life took over! But they are older now and back at the hobby . Im quickly slapping together a 40-sized trainer for my son and then yes, Turbinator build, FINALLY!!!!! Kit is out for delivery as we speak...

WOW!
This brings back memories 😁
I can tell you for sure and the guys will agree with me, the retract mount plates need to be much bigger to take the load and torsional stresses, I got that from the guys building the 125% Turbinator, my mods are documented on this thread, I have not had a single problem coming from the retract mounts.

How hard is this kit to build for an "average builder"? I built a couple Goldberg Eagle kits back in the day, as well as several small 1/2 A sized kits. All were pretty simple and straightforward to put together. How big a leap is is it to move up to something like this?

If the Goldberg ones were a 1 to build the Turbo I'll give it an 8, not because it is difficult to build but it will take longer and the instructions are, well... not easy to understand on some steps.
Since the building instructions are only 3 sheets of paper, I decided to document my build here to help others during the building process.

That's what I was afraid of. Pity there are no more ARFs (The Dreamworks T2 is too small to fit my P80). I think I could do a Jetmach as I read the manual and it seems pretty easy to build, but I don't like the looks. Hopefully find one used locally at some point.

The P80 is perfect for the Turbo, that's what's in mine and is more than enough push for it, I have a 100oz Dubro tank and I can do 7 minutes and land with a 1/4 of fuel.
Forget the Jetmach, the Turbo is a much stronger airplane and it flies like one of the composite ones ( T1 ) follow the construction advices on the thread and you will be alright, if you start the build in March you can be done
by May covered and all.

Forget the ARF, build your own, that way you can control the build quality and you can add one more rib bay at the tips to reduce the wing loading like I did, on the plans it is suggested to add the extra bay if you are flying at high altitude fields like in Denver.
Mine has a 40oz smoke Dubro tank, it is 22 lbs dry, 27 lbs on TO.

Hi
Finished my Turbinator build and have a couple of flights now.
All fine but It seems to have some tendancy to wobble or "Dutch roll"
anyone else had this??

No improvement, also notice sensitive on elevator at low speed with flaps out.
Start to question if my CG position is correct.
i have CG at 7" from leading edge at fuselage side ( witch actually is at frame #6 where wing dowel is ) gears in, empty fuel tank and full bubble trap. correct me if im wrong.
can try to move cg 6 3/4" just to confirm ?? will be needed some 200grams more in front.

Gary has a point, I have an Assist Gyro on mine, maybe that's why I'm getting a smoother ride on mine, moving the CG forward about a 1/4" will make it more stable, I know that the CG shouldn't be move back any more than 7".
How much expo do you have on your Ailerons and Elevators?

After adding 225 grams of led in front, there is a great difference in how the plane reacts and is now more stable and easier to land.
wobble is more or less the same but only with flaps out.
