1/6 ROC Hobby Willys MB 1941

It's also much cheaper than the Hummer isn't it?

Guess if you are counting pennies but for me, not that much of a cost difference compared to what you get.
HG's P-408 runs 30% or USD114.00 more & comes with a HUGE difference in standard features.Take the radio as just one example: HG includes a high quality programable 16 ch TX vs FMS' 2 ch standard TX. Granted, the FMS TX isn't not as cheap as what RGT ships with their crawlers but its no where near the FS programable 2-ch TXs I use for my crawlers & boats. If you want to consider material content, I haven't taken my Hummer apart but would say the ratio of metal to plastic is close to 70:30 & would be surprised if the MB hits 20% metal content. Its mostly ABS & nylon.

Hey herrmill, just wondering if it has a high and low range on the gearing like some crawlers do. Glad to hear the trailer hitch is operable, even if it isn't spring loaded. I may have to go with a cast aluminum one for towing my P-38 and may even need to reinforce the hitch with some struts tieing it to the frame farther forward. Time will tell. Would like to know what kind of replacement shocks/springs work well and where to get them. Preferably in the U.S. or at least Hobby King.
Thanks,
Brad

Yep, seems to be popular. FMS appears to have a winner on their hands.
Regarding spare parts & accessories, got a reply that these will be available in May.

Here's why it needs a firmer suspension. Add two more figures & the shocks bottom out. Granted, its a simple fix but have to question why release something like this, especially knowing it will appeal massively to the 1/6 collector market. As I said above, HG's 1/10 Hummer weighs twice as much & its suspension makes this pale in comparison. Of course, we could be put the soldier on a diet...
Perhaps that driver is like me,,, one plate of Mac 'n Cheeze too far!

Hi Hermill,
Does the jeep have adjustable preload collars on the shocks? Some nicer crawler have a screw thread barrel on the body of the shock which allows you to add more spring preload (make it stiffer) by compressing the coils spring. I assume not, since you would have adjusted that already? Can you add a little weight to the other side to counterbalance your "heavyweight driver"? Does is look like the shocks can be easily removed and disassembled?
Sounds like stiffer springs are the plan. Have not received mine yet. Still overall a great looking vehicle and with stiffer springs will be fun!
Best regards,
Bob

Yes, it comes with standard 80mm adjustable oil shocks which I have already drawn down on the rear to stiffen up. Again, not bad overall when it comes to driving experience unless you do a sharp turn but have only driving around in grass so far so need to see how it responds in dirt & gravel.

Yes, I'm impressed, too, but just want a more robust suspension to carry the troops. Looking forward to seeing the mods.
Not sure how well its going to hold up but that's to be expected. Fnding some parts are delicate since we already broke one of the canopy bows & the steering servo crapped out. Will be changing out some parts either with aftermarket or what I'll fab myself.

Tracking now says that my Jeep is being prepared for shipment by the origin country. I won't get an expected delivery date until the package hits United States soil, and then a lot depends on how long they hold me up at customs. If it has to go through Chicago that usually adds about 2 weeks.
I have two dragon Jeep kits so I'm going to look very carefully to see if I can use any of the good detailed Dragon Parts on this Jeep. The windshield on the ROC Jeep looks way too tall to me so perhaps I'll try the dragon windshield and see how that fits.

I assume it's on a very slow boat from China.

I was just going to ask if anyone in US has theirs yet. Some great YouTube vids out there, esp from Korea. In those vids, the users are taking their jeeps over some serious RC terrain (large rock fields). This model looks like a pretty capable crawler (although that's not what I bought it specifically for). It does show it somewhat matches the originals off road capability (which I did buy it for).

Yeah, I 'm still waiting for mine too. Even though I've already paid for it a month ago. Hope it shows up soon and I would love to see someone in the states do a review. Hey RC Bob, we're practically neighbors. I live up on San Juan. Stay safe everyone!

I definitely plan to do a complete box opening video on this thing, and I've had a couple of people tell me that I do a fairly decent job on those. I'm pretty sure it's on a boat somewhere in the Pacific right now, and once it hits us soil tracking will tell me that it has arrived at Customs, but then I'm probably looking at about two weeks to get through there, and then another week to my house. Doesn't waiting suck?

Yes it most definitely does. I had a similar experience getting my P-38 from Taiwan. However, once it cleared customs in Oakland, California, I had it in three days. I look forward to your box opening Crius.

Hey Downwind
Yes I saw that you are in San Juan Islands. That's great - sorta close. Maybe we can do a 1/6 tank/jeep run some day? I have several 1/6 tanks and am looking forward to the Jeep..
I always look forward to Tankfest at Paul Allen's Flying Heritage on Memorial Day - but its cancelled this year. But fun to see and run 1/16 and 1/6 tanks and meet other tankers.
Stay safe and healthy from the Crud (everyone).

Clark's working on his board that will be similar to his ACK40 & MFK01 now available.
The storage box in the rear will make a nice speaker enclosure.

Hey guys, just got a message from FMS day before yesterday. They said the shipment which includes my Jeep will arrive by boat by the first of June with arrival to me one week later. Just an update.
