Nice looking hinge setup there, MCB. Keep those pictures coming!

And I, personally, do not have any experience with the "Valach" - except to say that Vogelsang tells us it isn't Valach anymore. It's a Fiala. Easier to pronounce anyway

I will say this: if I was doing this project over again that is the engine I would choose.

Thank you Mitchilito! I will keep the pictures coming.....I pretty much have the entire rear end (empennage) completed and will be moving on to the wings.
Sorry I have not the slightest Idea about Spektrum. It should be a 40-60% mixer with an offset ( to zero) function when you switch the pump off.

The principle itself that I described to you is clear, you only find no way on your spektrum TX?
I know - I can't believe it either, Detlef. The answer is NO I cannot. And I can't find ANY reference to throttle/pump mix anywhere online. Back in the day, we could call Horizon Hobby and almost immediately get tech help. The fact is, now they have made it nearly impossible to get hold of them for any reason whatsoever.

So sad because that is one major reason they became so successful in the first place.

What do you mean? Use the valach / Fiala instead of the 300?

1) Its heavier than carbon fiber........I could not find a right sized carbon fiber replacement

2) The fit was not as tight as it should be

3) My solution.....I had it powder coated white.....now it fits perfect in the wing and fuselage tube sockets and looks great!!!

I would NEVER fly a carbon tube on this Cat unless I had made it myself

Just found a micro crack on the carbon tube of my Jet T33. Seen only by chance.

Now it has an strong alu tube 1,5 mm thick. Rock solid and wont crack in the fragment of a second

Does anyone out there know how to do this??
Mitch, just came across your post above. I have the variable fuel pump on my Pitts/Valach 210 with the Spektrum radio. Works great. If you still need, I can send the Spektrum file so you may copy the set up.

Yep, that's what I mean. There are several features on the Fiala 250 that I like more than any of the Mokis. First and foremost, it has valve covers. And it's delivered with an Emcotec pump. Plus it has the steel exhaust collector ring which makes more sense to me as well. And as I said in earlier posts, Detlef - I'm not as focused on going absolutely as fast as I possibly can anymore.

With that said, I do like the fact that my 'Bear will follow the spirit of the original: RIDICULOUSLY overpowered.

My least favorite part of any aircraft project: fitting the operating components. So fiddley.

I always knew it was coming but it finally came time to address the exhaust pans. I've known about it my whole modeling life but I've never had any experience with FLIGHT METAL. And what a way to get introduced: covering the inside of these hot air exits with their particular complexities. The piece that had to lay down in the pans was challenge because it had to go UNDER the front opening all the way to the front. - with it's incredibly sticky glue to deal with. Think about that. . . .

With that said, I think it came out pretty well. Not great, but pretty good. It looks very authentic. In the pics you see I burnished them with a pad. I still have to polish them. I'm not sure yet how shiny I'm going to make them. The full scale pans on the Bear are pretty shiny.

nevertheless, very clean work !

Because you asked about the air hoses. cannot be compared to your wing, as mine is different. Totally easy to run the air hoses underneath the main tube to the rear.

Everyting is entering the fuselage through one big opening behind the main tube. Good access, I can truly recomment this spot
