CAC Boomerang Project
#429
My Feedback: (1)
Finally back working on my Boomer. Today I removed the existing retract rails & supporting ribs then fitted 2 new ribs to locate new rails to take the new retracts I will be using. I still have to add another rib between the two just fitted plus another to carry the inboard end of the rails.
First pic is the original rails to take a Robart unit.
.
Rails & ribs removed.
2 new ribs in place along with rails to suit Custom Retracts units.

Looks like the Boomerang projects are Kaput. Warbird Charlie - you still out there, I'd like to know of you can source a copy of Chris Royals plans to post to Australia. I missed the boat when he designed and produced a 4:5 scale version and I believe you were the builder of the prototype. I've had the Airborne plans since they were released around 1990 and tried having the parts cut about 17 years ago, however the fellow botched the job and nothing lined up, he's mentioned in earlier posts, but I'd rather not go there. Turns out the Airborne plans are no good, which is a surprise given the designer built a non-flying model from his own plans - such is life. I figure I've waited long enough for an accurate set of plans, and as I'm not gifted with CAD skills or making scale plans, it's time to try other options
Also, any guidance on the cowl and complex LE curves around the landing gear/ cowl would be appreciated
Cheers

Hi Reuben
It looks like the wings are ok, however, the former's and stringer locations are way out. Further back in the thread there was a reported fix through a collaboration of one contributor and the fellow who cut my parts. Unfortunately, the fellow who cut the parts is no longer with us, and so his files are no longer available. Also, the cowl shape is incorrect, again the actual shape is shown in a previous post, just not sure which one. Finally, the dimensions people have been relying on are a bit suspect, 'Bundy" identified that the actual dimensions of the airframe and position of the wings are likely inaccurate on most sources except for the DB design bureau website.
I'll post what I manage to find and see if we can't get a few of these in the air.
Hope that helps
Cheers

Very nice work indeed WarbirdChaly. Being winter here Down Under building is the current priority - Fokker Dvii and Holman FW 190A are on the go for now. Looking forward to see the new Boomer progress.
