RE: CAC Boomerang Project
Hi folks,
I´m new at the RCU and found your thread about the Boomerang.
I have also planed to build the Boom from the Airborne Magazine but in 1/5 . Here at Germany the Plane is absolutely unknown and therefore a very interesting project
Whats the last status of our project since the last entry here ?
Sorry for my bad skills in English language.
I hope to increase with RCU
Bernd

RE: CAC Boomerang Project
Hi all,
just a letting you all know that I am building a web-site dedicated to the CAC Boomerang. I'm not sure how much RC stuff will make it into the site yet, but there are heaps of links to images and text resources that would help you RC guys. I will be including interviews with some surviving Boomerang Pilots later on as well, it will be interesting to hear what they thought of this wonderful little aircraft.
Have a look at http://home.austarnet.com.au/wackos/ and feel free to tell me what you reckon I should include in the site, early days yet so would appreciate any feedback.
Regards
Steve

RE: CAC Boomerang Project
Hi,
Have been fortunate to see a Boomerang here in Aust flying at Scone and Temora (only one flying I believe). Truly a credit to the owner/restorer who turned it from a rusting fuselage on a farm into the show piece it is today. Pictures below are of the same aircraft. Enjoy. The shot of the plane in the air with the cloud background can be enlarged somewhat as I took it with a digital on a very fine picture setting.
Regards
Mark

RE: CAC Boomerang Project
Hi Mark,
thanks for the fine pics of A46-122 Suzy-Q. Owned by Matt Denning, he has been collecting bits for her since 1975, I know of a guy who started collecting bits in 1965 and has still not finished his project. Can't imagine the joy of flying such a beautiful aircraft, and to have built every bit yourself must be amazing. The other flying Boomerang is Zuccoli's A46-206 a CA-19 model called Milingimbi Ghost, have a look at http://www.casa.gov.au/casadata/regi...ldpics/bom.htm for an image.
Kind of you to post the pictures mate and very glad you had the chance to see Suzy-Q go, they can really move around the sky those Boomers.
Best wishes
Steve

Hi all,
I have just received my undercarriage for the Boomer. Nice bit of gear. From Custom Retracts, of course. You can find them here: http://www.customretracts.com.au

RE: CAC Boomerang Project
Hi Flapper,
The Boomerang project is actually on the back burner at the moment. I still have a few other projects to complete before I can move on to it. I am currently working on an Airsail Chipmunk, followed by a repair job on a 120 size Tucano. Hope to start on the Boomerang later this year.
Regards,
James.

RE: CAC Boomerang Project
G'day all, John (hawker) has been busy framing up with the new formers from Browny. He says everything seems to fit very well now. He was having a little trouble uploading pics so I am helping out. Aparently he has already started skinning not long after these shots were taken. About 3 hours work in the second pic. Regards, James.

RE: CAC Boomerang Project
Hello John,
on which bases you plan to build the Wing. I have alignt the plan from the Airborne Magazine and therein the break of the Wing ( dihedral from the Wing) averages 7 degree on each side ( from the outer center of the Wing to the wingtip )
It seems to much. How many dihedral do you plan for your wing ?
We should go ahead in ordering the Lasercut parts. Please find out the shipping cost to germany.
Regards Bernd

RE: CAC Boomerang Project
Berndt,
John is on the case with the laser cut parts. There are just a few minor adjustments to sort out and then they should be ok.
As far as the dihedral is concerned, I can confirm that it is 7 degrees each side. The best 3-views we have found are from the Polish publications "Skrzydla w Miniturze 24 Commonwealth Boomerang". I have scanned them in and attached them for all to have a copy. They show the 7 degree dihedral on both sides.
Regards,
James.

RE: CAC Boomerang Project
Bernd,
I did post all of the relevant drawings. The file is a 6 page pdf file. I am not sure I understand what you want?
All of the parts are metric. We don't really have any imperial sizes avaiable here any more. We changed to metric measurements years ago, unlike the poor Americans!!
Regards,
James.

It is not easy to get warbird information to a propper prize here.
At the moment I use the following Link but the Boomerang is not available.
http://betah.co.il.26.m6.net/BooksCa...egory=Aviation
nevertheless is there a order Number on the Book ?
And tthat the sizes are in Metric is amazing.

OK.. so here is a difficult one.
Does anyone know anyone that is or has completed a CAC Boomerang scratch build?
Im currently scratch building a 74" Boomerang, and it would be neat to exchange info.

Dick and Matt worked together. Dick returned the parts he collected in '69 from Matts airframe while providing other parts as templates for restoration. Matt gets original parts, Dick gets rebuilt parts to suit his restoration. Best all round solution.
