RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I have a 56F, there is no pump and the venturi is about 1mm smaller, otherwise it is the same engine as the standard R/C 56. They don't sell the 56F in the US for some reason.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

The cline reg works much like a YS fuel system, however on a fourcycle it uses muffler pressure instead of crankcase press. Yes, it does send exhaust gasses to the fuel tank.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I just bought a new/old saito fa-150, it has the choke plate, old style NV assy w/blunt needle, fire nozzle type muffler and short crankshaft.

This engine has a "B" stamped on the engine...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

My saito .65 took awhile to break in, once it did the idle was very nice and I still have the original glow plug in it, I think it is a McCoy.

You can also try a OS F plug and a heavier APC 13X6...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

One thing to always remember when starting a large engine by hand, when you swing that prop through its arc , FOLLOW THROUGH just like swinging a baseball bat. :D

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

The .65 is a good solid engine, it shares parts with the .80 and .91 because they are all of the same family. If you find a deal on one, buy it. I think the .65 and .80 are no longer available new,...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

No Kidding!!

I would have to hang that from my neck on a thick gold chain and wear it to the field on sunday. I would be the Flavor Flav of the flying club [8D].

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Yes it is no suprise that a hot engine will start without the glow plugs being lit by battery power. These engines are not toys, they deserve respect for the injuries they can inflict to the...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I now have my new/old 270T and it is one seriously overbuilt engine, like the proverbial brick s***house. The crankcase and its mount looks to be sandcast and very robust compared to late 300T...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Thanks Gageebees,

The PDF manual is the right one for this early 270T. It is interesting to see all the planes you have been using this engine in. Those are great looking planes BTW.

I...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Thanks Ed, I don't have a plane for this engine at the moment, but a big slow flying scale or trainer type plane would be just the ticket. Asa matter fo fact, I do have a 1/3 sig spacewalker kit that...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Have any of you saito fans owned or run a FA-270T? I am purchasing one through the classifieds.

I believe this is a early version with airbleed carb. I think the later 270 had black cylinders...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I like flying aerobatic planes and use heavy throttle.

My FA.65 was mounted on a ultrastick 60 and did well for a small engine, it could climb vertical well, athough slowly. I would be using the...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Club Saito!

I have a question about a new, later model (white box, cast muffler) FA 80, it was a *bay purchase. Is this engine close to the 91 in power? The ideal prop for my FA .65 seems to...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Most of us these days (myself included:D) overpower our planes so much that extended full throttle running would evetually rip the wings off.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I add 4oz of oil to a jug of omega to bring the total oil content up to nearly 20%.

Adding 1 oz of anything to a full jug will bring the total content up less than one percentage point.
