RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

I know Castle dosen't like extra wire length, but if you keep the wire gauge large enough you should be fine. Just go one size larger than what the ESC uses and keep it as short as possible. You can...

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

Jim,

You can stick all the battery packs up front right behind the firewall. That's what I had to do on mine. I made a hatch rught behind the front firewall and stuck all the packs right there....

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

Mr DJ

Yes the conversion from cubic inches to cubic centermeters is correct, but the power output between glow and gas is much different. Same is true for electric. Electric, a least with Eflite...

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

Yeah, I think two 160s and if one fails you could still fly it fine. I use 20-10 props on mine and they scream!

I have a 160 electric in my Hurricane and LA-7 and they are very fast. Only issue...

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

If they say it's equiv to a 26 cc that's crazy :D It was much faster with my 160 electric than my Saito and the Saito puts out as much power as a G45.

Remember that glow power and gas power...

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

Mr DJ,

That's not correct. I have a Saito 36 cc in my Hanger 9 150 size P-51 now, but had an Eflite Power 160 in it prior. I got more power with the electric setup than the 36 cc gaser. The...

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

The Elfite Power 160 is equivilant to a 40 cc motor. I think the best setup would be using two Power 110s or two 160s. You could go with a 160 up front and 110 in the rear, but then you would have...

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

TY,

I don't use any flap on take offs. As long as you have enough runway it will leap off when it gets going fastenough. I don't use much flap on landing either, but again, you need runway and...

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

My DO-335 takes off easily with minimal tail clearance. You just punch it and hold a little elevator until it jumps off the runway. It lands easy like a jet on three wheels. Mine needs a lot of up...

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

The Power 160s can only handle 10S max, but you can run them on 12s as long as you don't run them full out or use a prop that's more than they are rated for. Higher voltage = lower amps. That being...

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

DJ,

I think the specs for the 160s call for 10S, but I have been running 12S as I already have lots of 6S packs that I can use. If you go onto Eflite's web site or Horizon's you can pull up the...

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

DJ

I use two 6S 5000 mah packs for my 160s. You can also use 10S, but I like the extra power from the 12S. If you go with 110s they you can use a 9S setup (one 4S and one 5S pack in series). I...

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

Ty,

Great job on the cockpit!

Waiting for my P-39 and 190D :D

Make nice ones for those too ;)

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

I can give you a comparison: I had an Eflite 160 in my Hanger 9 150 size P-51 and swaped it with a Saito 36 gasser. The 160 pulls harder than the Saito!

The Saito puts out around 3.5 HP with an...

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

Mine is a scaled down Al Masters Do-335 (66" wing).

You may have to get the batteries farther forward behind the firewall if you go electric and use the same size motors front and rear. I have...

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

My smaller one balances fine with the batteries rignt behind the firewall.

You might be fine with two Poer 110s if you want you use smaller batteries. I would just use what ever motor you have...
